GENERAL SUMMARY: This position will beresponsible for direct oversight of the Advanced Fiber Technician Training program(AFTT) housed at OSUIT. This is a grant-funded position under the AmericanRescue Plan Act (ARPA). The Program Coordinator will be responsible for theimplementation of the activities developed in the grant proposal to achievegrant objectives in the development of the AFTT program as well as forproviding fiber technician instruction.

PRINCIPALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate and coordinator the AFTT program in such a manner to maximize the grant to strengthen the University.
  • Develop curriculum and provide instruction to students.
  • Coordinate grant activities among instructors, students, industry, and other interested parties.
  • Supervise the day-to-day activities associated with program coordination.
  • Develop protocols and systems to track all grant requirements.
  • Monitor and coordinate all grant activities, deliverables, timelines, and expenditures to ensure all grant requirements are fully accomplished as well as write and submit all required reports.
  • Meet regularly with the Director of Workforce & Economic Development regarding grant progress.
  • Coordinate and attend meetings with AFTT advisory committee to discuss program status and risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate the purchases of equipment/supplies for the AFTT program and ensure compliance with federal and university purchasing policies.
  • Determine and periodically adjust grant timeline.
  • Assist and participate in any other activities related to the AFTT program, such as marketing and recruitment.
  • Support the mission and objectives of the University.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet grant objectives and the mission of the University.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Associate degree obtained or in-progress from accredited college or university preferred.
  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
  • Minimum of two years related work experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.
  • Military or industrial telecommunications experience highly preferred.
  • Possess the ability to operate effectively in politically sensitive environments, be comfortable with ambiguity and adaptable to change.
  • Advanced computer skills: word processing, spreadsheets, electronic communications and the ability to use specific software associated with the position is necessary.
  • Superb customer service and public relations skills.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of job.
  • Ability to diffuse and manage stressful situations.
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Skills in researching, analyzing, evaluating, and synthesizing complex data.

  • Understands assessment practices and the use of data to drive business diversification and sustainment practices.
  • Ability to apply wide range of technology skills involving databases and Microsoft Office.

  • Continually prioritizes tasks / deliverables and work in a deadline-driven environment along with ability to develop.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to author and deliver oral presentations and written materials for a variety of audiences and multiple venues.
  • Excellent listening skills and customer responsiveness are essential, continually incorporating feedback, ideas and requests.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively recognize and resolve conflict.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license required to be maintained if using a personal or university vehicle to conduct university business.
  • Fiber Optic Association (FOA) Certified Fiber Optic Technician certification.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends. A flexible work schedule may be required occasionally to meet client demands and needs.
  • Extensive day travel may be required at certain times of the year.
  • Normal office physical environment; ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
