Viking Child Care of Hudson Valley Community College has an immediate opening for a part-time or full-time Program Assistant. The candidate must have, at a minimum, an Associates Degree from an accredited college.
Employment Experience:
- Minimum of one year of general business office experience; preferably in a Child Care setting.
Pertinent Other:
- Must be able to interact positively with children, parents, staff and the College community. Must possess good oral and written communication skills. Must be proficient working with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Nature and Scope of Duties:
- Collects and records parents’ tuition. Completes the reconciliation of tuition payments received and may notify parents of overdue balances.
- Records children’s daily attendance. Maintains Child Care Center attendance records.
- Prepares weekly sign in sheets for staff and classrooms as well as monthly attendance sheets.
- May assist with the preparation of parent daycare contracts.
- May assist with the preparation of county and other agency reimbursement contracts.
- May assist with the preparation of grant applications and re-licensing and re-accreditation applications.
- Assists with the maintenance of the Child Care Center waiting list.
- Assists with the maintenance of all medical/physical reports, including annual immunization survey.
- May conduct tours for incoming families.
- Maintain children’s files, preparing copies of pertinent material for classroom staff.
- Attends all Child Care Center staff meetings.
- Distributes Child Care Center information and materials to the public as requested.
- Assists with the planning of daycare fund raising events.
- Participates in training as required.
- Monitors inventory and orders office supplies as required.
- Assists with ordering supplies and equipment for classrooms and kitchen.
- Monitors the entrance door and screens visitors to the Child Care Center.
- Maintains security codes for parents and staff.
- Maintains Day Care Registration (Blue) Cards.
- Maintains files for College Work Study Students, College Student Teachers and Student Observers.
- Answers phones, transfers calls, records messages.
- Maintains communication with College’s Physical Plant Office and Information Technology Services regarding work orders.
- Maintains communication with the College’s Print Shop Office regarding printing requests.
- Types, files, prepares photocopies and other business office tasks as required. Assists with classroom and kitchen coverage as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Hiring Requirements
- Clearance through the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment, a crime conviction statement, and required fingerprints.
- Physical exam including TB test completed according to OCFS regulations.
Job Type: Part-time or Full-time
Salary: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
