Professional Land Surveyor / Project Surveyor

BoundaryZone, Inc., a Land Surveying, Engineering, and Land Planning Firm, is recruitinga Project Surveyor for their growing Land Surveying Department. The idealcandidate will be a Professional Land Surveyor with a valid Georgia SurveyingLicense. The Project Surveyor will report to the corporate office in Suwanee,GA. This Position has the opportunity for growth to other territories andoffices that provide surveying services throughout Georgia. This positionreports directly to the divisions Survey Manager.
JobDescription:
Thisposition is responsible for managing survey projects to establish the requirementsto meet accuracy standards, budgets, schedules, and board compliance. Superviseand assist coworkers in completing all aspects of land surveying regardingfield work and office work, including but not limited to establishinghorizontal and vertical control, topographic, as-built, boundary surveys andconstruction staking. Ensures compliance to all applicable regulations andrequirements, including boundary calculations and legal compliance. Thisposition has full survey authority for personnel actions. Acts as an advisor toland surveying team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Ensures thatproject/department milestones/goals are met.
Dutiesand Responsibilities:

• Responsible for projectmanagement of survey projects.
• Ensurethat project research is complete including plats, deeds, estimates and allnecessary job research before dispatching crews to the job.
• Verifythat Crew Chiefs are aware of job details and any unusual circumstances priorto dispatching to job. Track the field work to completion and assigned on the tasklist for drafting.
• Evaluatestaff performance and provide input the decision process of advancementand/or maintaining employment.
• Managethe project to see that it is researched, and the scope of work is relayed tothe field crew and cad drafter.
• Providefield crews with calculated property corners for replacing lost or obliteratedmonumentation.
• Answer client calls with concerns orquestions regarding the survey and anticipated delivery of the survey.
• Take sales calls and emails, quoteprojects, processes work orders, takes payments as required
• Assigns and directsproject effort (survey crews and technicians), project communications withinthe company and to outside stakeholders, monitors and processes financialinformation, and maintains client relationships and attends training, asnecessary.

• Keeping up to date with boundary law and construction procedures
• Site visits / fieldwork as needed.
• Be vigilant for ways to improve methods or procedures and make suggestions to other staff.

Skill Requirements:
Theposition requires a complete understanding of land surveying and the varioustypes of surveying that can be requested or required to help the client obtainthe survey that will allow them to achieve their goal. Good communicationskills are essential.

• Familiar with operation of all survey instruments, including conventional and robotic total station, GPS and drones.

• Provides effective day-to-day supervision of project survey staff.

• Reads and interpret titles, deeds, plats, plans and specifications.

• Sets priorities and meets deadlines.
• Identifies and implements effective courses of action in order to complete work assignments.
• Maintains files of plats, documents, and other records.
• Ability to solve problems, perform surveying calculations and resolve property boundaries.
• Must be skilled in managing multiple priorities and prioritizing work assignments.
• Must be able to work independently and make survey related decisions.
• Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Must be able to solve problems related to surveying and mapping projects; certify legal descriptions, plats, and survey reports; supervise technicians and field crews on survey and mapping projects as well as attend required meetings.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Drafting on Civil 3d, Carlson, or other CAD software.

RequiredExperience:

• Current Georgia Professional Land Surveying License
• Minimum of 5 years project management experience.
• Minimum of 5 years land surveying experience.
• Additional Land Surveying / Land Planning credentials, are a plus.
