Job Description
Position Summary:
Set-up and operate MIG and TIG welders. Ability to fit parts up to tack and weld complete. Ability to MIG and TIG mainly mild steel and aluminum but some stainless applications apply.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Lift work pieces manually or by using hoist; secure work pieces in fixture or load automatic feeding device.
2. Calculate and set controls to regulate machine factors, such as wire feed speed, amperage, polarity, type of gas, and type of weld rod.
3. Start machine, engage feed, and observe operation.
4. Inspect and measure machined work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.
5. Move machine controls and guide to adjust machine.
6. Unload welded frames from robotic welder and place on appropriate containers.
7. Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
8. Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
9. Chip or grind off excess weld, slag or spatter using hand scrapers, power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.
10. Replace worn machine accessories such as cutting tools or brushes.
11. File, sand, or shape machined parts.
12. Maintain accurate counts of parts; attach labels or tags to finished part containers identifying customer, part number, quantity, and shop order information.
13. Maintain company quality, efficiency, and productivity standards.
14. Use equipment and supplies to perform work in accordance with operational standards.
15. Examine finished work pieces to verify conformance with specifications according to operator inspection sheet, quality control plans and /or customer notes using instruments such as gauges.
16. Report defective materials or questionable conditions to team leader or production supervisor.
17. Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow all safety regulations.
18. May perform other related duties or work at different workstations as production needs require.
Requirements:Qualifications:
1.Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
2.Experience: 1 – 3 years MIG and TIG applications is required, industrial robot welding experience is a plus.
3.Computer/Software and Office Equipment Skills: Experience using a computer for punching in and out of jobs preferred but not required
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
a. Must place a strong emphasis on quality and attention to detail.
b. Able to read and understand blueprints.
c. Able to identify problems during the manufacturing process and make necessary adjustments to correct.
d. Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision following detailed manufacturing instructions.
e. Ability to work with hand tools.
f. Ability to use and understand basic measuring tools, i.e., tape measure, caliper.
f. Able to work in a team environment.
g. Able to effectively provide and accept feedback from colleges based on work reviews.
h. Flexibility to work overtime to ensure smooth and continuous manufacturing process.
Essential Physical/ Mental Requirements:
1. Work requires occasional bending, lifting, and reaching.
2. Work is performed in an environment with noise.
3. Need to occasionally move and carry loads of up to 50 lbs.
4. Must have good time management skills.
5. Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift
6. Must have the ability to maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy while working in an environment with interruptions and occasional noise.
