Job Description
Performs tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding processes on light gauge 12 through 20 stainless steel and aluminum.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings and follow verbal directions to determine the specific welding requirements.
2. Lays out/positions parts by using templates or reading measurements.
3. Performs TIG welding processes based on specifications from blueprints, drawings or verbal directions.
4. Performs hand grinding and polishing
5. Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
6. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
7. Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
8. Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
9. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Education and/or Experience
Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma with shop related courses and prior production/assembly experience. Technical School coursework in welding or prior welding experience is necessary.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong mechanical aptitude is necessary. A solid understanding of TIG welding concepts and processes is required. Must be able to read a ruler and be able to operate common hand tools, air tools, drills, sanders, grinders, etc.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to assemble units by fastening component parts, some of which have sharp metal edges. The employee is regularly required to stand, stoop or bend and occasionally reach above the shoulders.
The employee must frequently lift objects up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The position works in a production environment with moderate noise levels. Overtime is occasionally required, especially during busy times.
