Position Summary
The Production Technician is part of a team who reports to the Shift Supervisor and is responsible for setting up production equipment, cleaning production equipment, and ensuring that the material meets the company’s established quality standards. This includes putting the batched material into fermenters, monitoring the fermentation process, and processing the fermentation slurry to a purified state.
Essential Functions:
- Perform inspections and safety checks on equipment and work areas to ensure compliance with 6S protocols.
- Follow safety procedures, regulations, and wear PPE (personal protective equipment).
- Follow batch records and set points to prepare, measure, mix, and load media into reactors, tanks, or other equipment.
- Use HMI (human machine interface) system to process products, and monitor and adjust equipment parameters such as temperature, pressure, agitation, cooling, and heating to ensure product quality.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as centrifuges, filters, dryers, probes, and pumps.
- Perform in-process testing in a laboratory setting using instruments such as pH probes, moisture analyzer, bench top centrifuge, and scales to ensure product specifications are met.
- Accurately input data on batch records, logs, and computer systems to document production activities and results.
- Follow established CIP (clean-in-place) protocols to ensure cleanliness of equipment and devices.
- Communicate and coordinate with other operators, supervisors, engineers, and maintenance staff to ensure smooth and efficient production operations.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues or problems that may arise during plant operations.
MinimumQualifications
- Able to speak, read and write in English.
- Must be able to learn to operate machinery systems safely, and then regularly demonstrate performing safe machine operations.
- Able to perform work onsite at our facility and meet schedule requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hazwoper certification or willingness to attain certification.
- 2 or more years in a manufacturing environment
- Forklift and boom lift certification.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, sit, talk, hear, stand for 8-12 hours, walk, climb, bend, kneel, lift to 50 pounds, carry, and operate computer software.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Position type/Work Schedule
- This is a non-exempt, on-site, full-timeposition, requiring overtime, as needed to complete assigned work.
- Must work 12-hour company schedule; week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday. Week 2:Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Hours: 6pm-6am.
- This position will include weekends, holiday work (at holiday pay rate) and overtime.
