Here's what you'll do:
  • Perform all supervisory responsibilities, including scheduling, assigning work, hiring, training and development, and addressing/documenting performance or disciplinary issues
    • Coach, develop and set goals for team members in alignment with OGC's Values
    • Maintain adequate staffing levels to meet seasonal needs while minimizing over time
    • Ensure that all staff receive necessary safety training
    • Report all accidents and incidents in accordance with company policies
  • Work with the Quality Assurance Manager to develop, implement, and track key metrics for the Production department
  • Support Packing Line operations
    • Coordinate the sanitation, tote washing, box forming and running of the packing line
    • Direct packing line operations as needed
  • Coordinate and direct additional support functions
  • Coordinate with third party temporary staffing partners to meet department labor needs
  • Ensure proper orientation and training for temporary associates
  • Lead and support Continuous Improvement (CI) process as requested to resolve problems and improve product and service quality
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for the Production department
  • Complete weekly and ad hoc reporting on department metrics
  • Work with the Quality Assurance Manager to develop, implement, and track key metrics for the Production department
  • Oversee, monitor, support and contribute to the flow of work going into the Production department
  • Ensure that all operations are complying with Company policy, state and federal regulations regarding workplace safety, food safety, transportation safety and employment laws, and that all practices are administered in a fair and equitable manner

Qualified candidates will have:
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of related work experience in Quality Control, Inventory Maintenance, Warehousing, or Materials Management
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience required, or overall equivalent experience.
  • Must have an understanding of the product line, post-harvest handling, quality, grading, shrink, food safety and organic certification.
  • Experience using enterprise resource planning software and warehouse management systems and the ability to train others on the OGC's computer software programs
  • Ability to operate computers efficiently; knowledge of basic programs including Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of USDA training and standards
  • Ability to facilitate USDA inspection processes and standards
  • Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, rider jacks, etc.
  • Knowledge of safe warehouse operating practices and procedures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

It's extra awesome if you bring:
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Previous experience working in produce industry or organic food industry
  • Familiarity supporting wholesale distribution companies and warehouse environments

Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular and consistent basis. Must be able to work in a cold and damp environment for extended periods of time. Work environment may include exposure to: dust, ice, dirt, noise, and vibration. In addition, repetitive motion, mainly of the shoulder, back, wrist and hands, may be required in this position. Standing, stooping, bending required. Ability to meet above description of position with or without reasonable accommodation.
