Chemours is seeking a Production Shift Supervisor to join our growing team! This position will report directly to the Mine Manager and will be based in Nahunta, GA.
The Production Shift Supervisor who will oversee all Production Shift activities for mining and mineral processing facilities operating 24-hours per day, 7-days per week by providing safety and operational leadership to achieve mine objectives. The position will manage 10+ shift employees to include mobile equipment, field crew and plant operators responsible for all aspects of active mine production from operating excavators, haul trucks, dozers and loaders to mobile mining units, screeners, wetmill concentrator, attritioner, water treatment facilities, and associated process equipment. Also works with maintenance personnel in maintaining the plant and oversees the activities of other Plant Operators as required.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Responsible for the performance management process within the maintenance team (goal setting, performance measurement, recognition, feedback, coaching & counseling)
- Ensure all work is performed within company, state, and federal regulations, standards, statutes, policies, and procedures.
- Identify and promote opportunities to improve mine safety performance, act as a safety leader.
- Work closely with Company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) personnel targeting zero incidents and continuous improvement of mine site EHS performance and report all personal injuries and EHS incidents and assist with both safety and environmental investigations, and act as a Safety Leader to ensure individual and team Safety remain top priority in the planning and execution of all tasks.
- Develops among assigned personnel a consciousness for the need for team work to attain company objectives, led by example, provide open an honest feedback targeting improved employee performance.
- Ensure all applicable Standard Operating Procedures are followed in each production area, offer opportunities to improve operating procedures.
- Assists in the orientation of new hires and safety training, participate in employee review process.
- Improve the skills and effectiveness of team members through challenging assignments and development. Ensure that personnel training requirements are identified and completed.
- Supervise all personnel and operations of assigned shift, build a 'Team" spirit aligned with Company Core Values driven to exceed performance expectations, provide coaching and guidance to shift employees. Reviews daily production schedule to plan work and personnel assignments for shift, manage attendance and backfill issues, and apply company employee relations policies in all dealings with employees.
- Monitor daily reports tracking mine performance, downtime issues and engage operations to discuss, understand, and communicate impact of operations related issues.
- Anticipates and determines cause of delays in shift operations and takes appropriate action to meet production goals.
- Reports promptly to Mine Manager when delays occur, estimates time of delay and when operations will be resumed.
- Contact and coordinate with engineering and maintenance department in planning and executing scheduled down day repairs and regularly scheduled maintenance.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment and reports any problems.
- Responsible for all processes, equipment, employees, safety and housekeeping of the area and meeting production quality and quantity standards on the shift.
- Participate in the weekly meetings and be prepared to report on work order performance and summary of maintenance related downtime to include action items and follow up from meeting discussions.
- Continuous improvement in mining approach, encourage initiatives intended to reduce safety risk, increase production volume, improve efficiency and reduce operating cost.
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institution
- Ability to read and write the English language.
- 2+ years' of leadership experience in an industrial or production related role and the ability to motivate and train employees
- Must have a good reasoning skill and the ability to select and analyze appropriate data to allow good decision making.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently ascends or descends ladders, stairs, elevated walkways, ramps and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
- Frequently lifts or moves up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts or moves up to 50 pounds.
- Position requires working near and around operating mechanical parts and mobile equipment and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations.
- Ability to read and interpret various plans and designs.
- Capable of wearing personal protective equipment, such as hearing protectors and respirators, as necessary.
