The Production Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring products through the complete production cycle.
Essential Functions
- Identify and implement systems and process improvements within the supply chain to enable overall business process improvement
- Maintain various reporting systems for ensuring that documentation is accurate and timely.
- Communicate with customer support when there are significant variations in product demand.
- Communicate demand information across the facility so that everyone is aware of volume and metrics.
- Create production schedules daily and ensures that output is recorded into the correct system.
- Review and update forecast, production schedules and material requirements.
- Support new product development through cooperative scheduling of model introductions, end of life and prototype processing with the potential suppliers
- Proactively review material supply and demand to determine push/pull actions appropriate to impact manufacturing MPS and supply MRP exception message
- Coordinate and plan materials requirements for new product introductions, including review of new BOM’s and cut-in dates for build verification and production units
- Assess impact to materials availability and production schedule from customer sales opportunities that may be affecting demand for product over and above the plan
- Identify and plan for new product trial production runs with R & D and production leadership
- Assist in the resolution of MRP and planning discrepancies

Required Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Applied Mathematics Degree or related field
- 1-3 years of scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment
- Understanding of ERP system(s) (NetSuite experience is a plus)
- Proficient with Microsoft office products
- Proven experience with complex planning, forecasting and product lifecycle programs.
- Experience with Purchasing/Materials tools (MRP, Inventory analysis, part or supplier profiles, etc).
- Proven people skills required, must have ability to work with others
- Excellent Communication Skills (written and verbal)
- Organizational and problem-solving skills required
Work Environment
The scheduler typically works in a climate-controlled office environment but may need to visit the production floor in order to meet with supervisors, employees and others to discuss production and scheduling.
Physical Demands
There are very few physical demands. The job can be mentally challenging at times, particularly when there is a significant increase in demand or when the production team is not meeting demand.
The employee occasionally is required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Full-time salaried exempt position. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
