Who we are looking for:
We are currently searching for a Production Planner to support multiple manufacturing value streams by planning plant production based on network stocking levels, establishing and maintaining plant production schedules, tracking progress of production, reviewing factors which affect production schedules, managing inventories based on min/max levels and order materials as necessary.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two (2) years of production scheduling experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in JDE software and lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you'll do:
- Part of implementation team to maintain JDE Software data in manufacturing / planning environment
- Develop the production schedule based on targeted inventory levels with input from Sales and Operations.
- Coordinate and work with all involved departments and external customers to exceed the company departmental and customer's goals and objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate inventory needs of raw materials, packaging materials and supplies required for production orders.
- Administer the various raw material Kanbans, both e-Kanbans and manual systems.
- Request intercompany products or items from outside vendors either directly or through purchasing as needed.
- Review and adjust raw material min/max levels as needed.
- Backstop the master planning process and the Production Scheduling Supervisor's daily and weekly planning activities.
- Reconcile inventory variances.
- Manage multiple work activities and frequently changing priorities.
- Develop relevant performance metrics, monitor performance and issue monthly reports.
- Maintain reports to reflect scheduling methods, support performance and process procedures.
- Review output level to established target levels and production compliance, monitor and report shortages and make management aware of any potential shortages.
- Manage valid priorities and control priorities using appropriate tools, i.e., MS Office programs. Perform all work in accordance with established departmental work instructions.
What you'll bring:
- Minimum of two (2) years of production scheduling experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP systems strongly preferred.
- Intermediate to expert knowledge in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
- Capability to prioritize and plan efficiently and effectively in an ever-changing customer service environment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume, satisfaction driven environment.
Within 3 months, you'll:
- Complete your Atkore Immersion program.
- Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.
- Be highly engaged and aligned with Procurement, Scheduling and Operations and support groups.
- Gain an understanding of the training materials and procedures your team owns.
Within 6 months, you'll:
- Understand the business well enough to own and drive operational activities with the assistance of internal support.
- Maintain and be accountable for KPI reporting while actively participating in Lean Daily Management activities.
- Be actively developing opportunities to improve planning tools and results.
Within 12 months, you'll:
- Develop and drive best practices and demonstrate an ability to get results through influencing others.
- Be responsible for suggesting changes to senior management, using analytics to support your recommendations, and actively participate in the implementation of approved changes.
