Team or Function Overview
Summary
Essential Duties
- Practices incident and accident prevention and demonstrates safe behavior in all activities
- Troubleshoots work related issues while communicating with maintenance and shift leads
- Consistently monitors quality by checking production line performance, product specifications and production plans
- Performs minor maintenance duties and housekeeping throughout the shift
- Monitors finished product and reports any defects per plant specifications
- Prepares for shutdowns and product changes by completing shutdown/inventory check sheets
- Works safely to prevent on the job injuries by following LTV (Lock, Tag, Verify) procedures
- Packages and transports finished product to the warehouse
- Performs other duties as instructed by the Lead Technician and plant management team
- Maintains a positive working relationship with all plant employees and other business contacts
- Responsible for monitoring all process alarms by communicating and following up with appropriate action
- Uses process improvement tools to drive continuous improvement of the plant and business processes
Schedule
- After commissioning in early 2024, the production schedule will be 3 or 4 days per week
- Employees will work 12 hour shifts rotating days to nights - frequency of rotation will be determined with employee input on preferences
- Weekends and later hours may be required during startup
- Overnight travel to other GAF plants may be required for training
- Business conditions will dictate future long term work schedules
- Within 1-2 years, the plant will run 24/7 and holidays and weekends will be required
Physical Demands
- Required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects, tools and product samples
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch
- Ability to perform detailed testing processes in various process conditions
- Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of manufacturing equipment and machinery
- Ability to read and concentrate via computer data entry typing and proofreading
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds

- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
- Minimum 2 years manufacturing experience required

- Ability to communicate, both written, and orally, in English is required
- The Valdosta site is a tobacco and e-cigarette free facility; any exceptions will be addressed on site
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve production challenges
- Basic proficiency in Google Suite, including email and shared drives
- Math Skills - Ability to measure, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
