PAY
This position pays $15.00 per hour with additional $.50 for shift differential
SHIFT
Shift hours are 2:45p-11:00pm with flexibility to work weekends when required
JOB SUMMARY
The Retort/Kettle Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring that the machine is set up and operates properly during production. The Retort/Kettle Machine Operator will coordinate with the employees working on the production line to ensure the proper product is being cooked/processed. The retort/kettle Machine Operator will report to the shift supervisor any and all issues related to the machines operation efficiency and production results. The Retort/Kettle Machine Operator will follow all safety guidelines and food manufacturing regulations to ensure that safe, quality products are cooked/processed properly.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Performs start up, assemble/disassembly and shutdown of machine for daily production
- Reads manufacturing orders/recipes to determine cooking times, temperatures and ingredient specification
- Adjust machine controls/settings as necessary throughout the cooking/production process
- Removes cooked product from machine/equipment
- Starts pumps/turns valves to have product transfer to filling machine for packaging
- Monitors cooking process from beginning to end to ensure product cooked properly and thoroughly
- Test samples to determine proper viscosity, texture, taste
- Assist with loading/unloading kettle with raw material gathered for production when needed
- Assist with cutting bags for rework, stacking product on racks, bringing totes to the production floor
- Maintains accurate logs of shift production results
- Notifies shift supervisor/maintenance of machine/equipment issues
- Works closely with production supervisor to ensure line running smoothly
- Assures food safety standards with regards to GMP’s and HAACP plan are followed by self and production line workers
- Clean, wash and sterilize equipment using water hoses, cleaning or sterilizing solution or rinses
- Inspect machine and equipment for operating efficiency; detect hazards, malfunctions, defects
- Maintains neat and clean work area at all times

EDUCATION /EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior machine operating experience
- Previous production/manufacturing experience
WORK ENVIROMENT
- Will work in environment where safety precautions are required to be followed
- Protective gear such as gloves, work boots and smocks required at all times
- Will work around moving machinery
- Temperature varies from 39-45 degrees
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Moderate to heavy physical effort required
- required to walk, stand, bend for long periods of time throughout the day
- Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 75 lbs
Will be expected to perform other related duties and assignments requested or directed.
