MSI is searching for a BILINGUAL/SPANISH Production Manager with experience in food production and/or packaging for their Hammond, IN facility. As a Production Manager, you will:
Ensure production targets are met or exceeded by training and developing workers, managing employee scheduling, and coordinating maintenance improvement with shop personnel. Ensure product quality is preserved through proactive involvement in process improvement, machine performance, and data and documentation review. Supervise, manage, and develop floor personnel. Conduct plant audits and reviews of production facility assuring company standards are maintained and work with other departments to resolve quality, production, and efficiency problems. Identify and help to implement improvements. Function as an information source to various departments to continuously improve operations. Support customer service during customer visits and audits. Support the Plant Manager on special department projects. Ensure workers are following safety and GMP guidelines.
Responsibilities:
  • Safety Management
    • Ensure all personnel work safely
    • Ensure the workplace is clean, organized, and safe
    • Conduct safety discussions with all QC auditors personnel
  • Overall plant management
    • Coordination of all plant functions with respect to Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Sanitation --- you are the ground traffic controller
    • Work collaboratively with all departments to ensure smooth production operations
    • Employee scheduling and project scheduling
  • Ensure effective equipment operation and production efficiencies are met
    • Manage Daily operations so that product quality is maintained and enhanced.
    • Drive food safety and quality assurance through worker training, and development and ensure equipment is properly functioning and operated
    • Support line setups and startups to ensure effective production results
    • Generate work orders for equipment issues and improvements
  • Continuous Improvement of Operations
    • Understand Production and quality targets for each project
    • Review production efficiencies and work with all departments to improve throughput.
    • Work with management to improve output and reduce cost
    • Track improvement ideas to understand the effectiveness of changes
  • Support line worker training and development
    • Ensure line personnel (operators and line workers ) are trained on following Binder specifications, performing the tasks on the equipment checklists, performing quality inspections, material sign in
    • Ensure line personnel are trained on operations, food safety, and quality SOPs
    • Assess line employee performance (both MSI and Staffing), develop improvement plans, and implement training to increase employee skills and performance
    • Provide regular, documented feedback to employees to improve performance
  • Responsible for Product Quality
    • Ensure quality systems are well implemented including quality checks, proper paperwork completion, accurate data entry, and effective employee training
    • Ensure quality checks are completed and production meets quality specifications
  • Support the MRP system
    • Understand all production functions of the Pack Manager
    • Ensure employees are trained on the proper use of Pack manager for material movement in and out of production rooms, line clearances, reconciliations, and daily tasks
    • Be able to search the system for projects, jobs, materials, etc. to support day-to-day operations
    • Work with IT department to generate improvement in MRP system use
  • Assist in inspection and verifying equipment sanitation effectiveness
    • Support equipment cleaning with operations personnel
    • Coordinate cleaning, swabbing, and inspecting when needed to support sanitation and production.
  • SOP implementation and review in areas of responsibility
    • Understand SOPs and provide improvement ideas and upgrades
    • Ensure employees are properly trained on SOPs
    • Ensure SOP training is properly documented
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 years of experience in a production supervisory role
  • Knowledge of packaging and manufacturing in the food or pharmaceutical industries
  • Must be process-driven and possess strong leadership skills
