Job Description:

As the Assistant Plant Manager at Southeast Forest Products, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing facility. Working closely with the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a safe and productive work environment. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is team oriented, thorough, confident in decision-making, and able to delegate duties as necessary.

1. Assist the Plant Manager in planning, organizing, and coordinating plant operations to meet production goals and customer requirements.

2. Supervise and provide leadership to production teams, including production supervisors, machine operators, and maintenance technicians.

3. Monitor production processes and workflow to identify opportunities for improvement and implement effective solutions.

4. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety among all employees.

5. Collaborate with the Plant Manager to develop and implement production schedules, resource allocation plans, and cost-control measures.

6. Conduct regular inspections of equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify maintenance needs and ensure optimal performance.

7. Coordinate with purchasing and inventory management teams to maintain adequate supplies of raw materials and finished products.

8. Analyze production data and performance metrics to track progress towards goals and identify areas for optimization.

9. Assist in hiring, training, and evaluating plant personnel, providing coaching and support to help employees succeed.

10. Foster a positive work environment based on open communication, teamwork, and mutual respect.

Qualifications:

1. Previous experience in a manufacturing or production management role required, with at least 3 of supervisory experience.

2. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control principles, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).

3. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve their full potential.

4. Proven problem-solving abilities and a results-oriented mindset.

5. Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices.

6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.

7. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

8. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.

9. Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to support production schedules.
