Job Title:Production Manager

Reports to: Plant Manager

Department: Operations

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 per year

Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervision of all production, operations and employees. In the absence of the Plant Manager, will support in the overall management of the facility as a “second in command”.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for managing the current production staff and growing its capabilities. The Production Supervisor will interface with production staff lead(s) to plan and schedule production to meet client orders and deliver accurate timelines. This position will also work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor to help provide hardware needs and reordering projections. The Production Supervisor will assist the Plant Manager in communicating production needs as well as continually working to optimize production. The Production Supervisor will work closely alongside the Quality Assurance Supervisor to ensure product meets company specifications. This position will need to work with the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure production and preventative maintenance can coincide without impacting output.

Essential Functions:

Assist and support the Plant Manager with any and all operations of a production facility, including:

● Exercise significant authority and direction concerning operational issues, personnel issues in regard to production; participate in developing and implementing rules, regulations, policies, and procedure; responsibility for inspecting work, product, inventory, staff and production in its

entirety,alongside the Plant Manager to advance FM Labs mission, vision, goals, and objectives, including but not limited to:

o Manage receiving of inbound ingredients and tolling agreements, as well as outbound finished goods.

o Scheduling usage of crude and working closely with the Warehouse Supervisor and Quality Assurance Supervisor in regard to the intake, quality, availability of incoming product.

o Working with third party vendors to ensure that changes/upgrades/modifications to production machinery is scoped and continues.

o Collaborate in scheduling of repairs or system upgrades to production equipment

o Any necessary financial or budgeting tasks (i.e., purchase orders), working with the Plant Manager for approval escalation where necessary.

● Manage, supervise, and direct the activities of assigned staff and functions; make recommendations regarding hiring, discipline, termination or advancement of employees to the Plant Manager. Assign work and monitor progress; guide, train and develop employees in the accomplishment of their duties and goals through professional growth; write, conduct, and oversee individual performance reviews/evaluations while detailing the process for all management employees.

o Evaluates each employee’s performance based on clearly communicated standards and expectations.

● Manage and coordinate all operations including: daily activities, equipment requirements, typical maintenance, training/development, schedules, personnel and quality assurance.

● Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.

● Utilize the production schedule and on hand inventory to provide hardware reorder projections on a regular basis.

● Support better management, management reporting and information flow.

o Utilizing Coast and Fishbowl in order to effectively communicate production and maintenance needs.

● Attends regular meetings with the Management Team around organizational excellence.

o This includes regular meetings with the Plant Manager as well as the entire management team.

● Works alongside the Plant Manager to ensure each department’s labor force is being used effectively to meet operating budgets, including over time costs.

● Documents all process and policy related objectives for replication of procedures related to potential regional changes and/ or expansion objectives

● Identifies problems, recommends alternatives, and implements solutions selected by the COO and Plant Manager.

o Act as liaison between Plant Manager and the employees/staff in regard to process and/or organizational structure.

● Continually reviews all current systems for operational efficiency while monitoring recent developments, improvements, and strategies in the industry.

● ​​Ensure that production staff have all hardware, tools, and raw materials needed to complete the production that is planned using Fishbowl.

● Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques alongside the Maintenance Supervisor.

● Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions, and responding to requests.

● Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

o This includes ensuring the workspace is always clean and tidy during and in between shifts.

● Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action alongside the Plant Manager.

● Maintain the ability to report to the facility on-call, as needed and/or on a rotating basis to handle emergencies and ensure the facility is operating smoothly and production needs are being met. This can include hours that are outside of that standard or regular work week or workday.

● Responsible for assisting Plant Manager with all matters related to organizational training, recruitment, and selection of candidates for the Production team

o Acquire high quality people who demonstrate and ensure optimization and safety.

● Assists with the creation and implementation of training manuals and guidelines for all positions within the Production team alongside the Plant Manager and Compliance and Regulatory Manager and making sure all employees are properly trained.

● Reviews and updates training program regularly to ensure employees are trained, motivated, and empowered to deliver total product quality and customer satisfaction.

● Evaluates each Production employee’s ability to maintain high levels of performance through personal verification and oversight of trainees.

● Monitor, track and recognize the performance and achievements of the employees within the Production team

● Continuously improves the skills, knowledge, and morale of all employees; creates an environment where the entire team does the same.

● Effectively creates, develops, and utilizes all resources to provide training programs, new employee orientation and training programs.

● Communicate what is being made, what is needed, and any surplus or shortfall with the Warehouse Manager.

● Ensuring Production is meeting quality standards set by Quality Assurance Supervisor and SOPs.

● High level problem solving including root cause analysis for low potency, yield, or efficacy and color of material.

● Understand and think critically about scientific processes and methods

● Work with the Plant Manager, Compliance and Regulatory Manager, and Quality Assurance Supervisor to develops and implements new SOPs and performs SOP revisions while adhering to formal document control procedures and regulatory requirements.

● Responsible for the day-to-day operations of all production rooms and ensuring good laboratory and production practices are implemented, documented, and sustained.

o Adhering to cGMP practices and any certifications set forth by the company

● Assists Quality Assurance Supervisor in developing goals and plans for quality improvement.

● Manage and oversee production scheduled from intake to client delivery.

● Assists Quality Assurance Supervisor ensure that all finished goods produced on site are completed in accordance with inspection plans and meet quality standards.

● Review weekly production schedule and ensures it aligns with the needs of the company in conjunction with the Warehouse Supervisor and Plant Manager.

● Manages the successful transition of newly arriving, transferred, and departing production personnel.

● Participates in the planning, designing, development, and implementation of initiatives to enhance the performance and workflow of production systems with the emphasis on employee safety and excellence in quality delivery of laboratory functions to all stakeholders.

● Must have strong communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats.

● Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing, data base management, Fishbowl, spreadsheet applications and electronic mail.

● Knowledge and enforcement of the policies, procedures and goals of FM Labs and affiliates.

● Knowledge of general management principles and practices, including budget, policy and procedure development, personnel management, supervision, and finance.

● Skill in analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, projecting consequences of proposed actions, and implementing recommendations in support of company philosophies and goals.

● Must have strong communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats.

● Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing, data base management, spreadsheet applications and electronic mail.

● Must pass any and all required background checks.

● Must be and remain compliant with any and all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.

:

● A bachelor’s degree [ET1] preferred

● 3-5 years’ experience in running a production facility

● At least 5 years experience in a technical production setting or relevant education.

● Have a strong knowledge of production requirements.

● Ability to manage a team of people; experience in management.

● Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

:

● While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

● PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 40 pounds (100 pounds with assistance)
