Operate packaging and labeling equipment that seals trays of packaged seafood while taking into consideration quality and food safety. Overwrap fish portions and fillets in vacuum film, freeze and pack out in master cases.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate equipment that packages and seals seafood
- Prepare and pack crab stuffed fish fillets
- Clean fish (remove bones, skin, parasites, etc.)
- Assist in packaging/preparation of other seafood products
- Apply labeling that correctly identifies species, country of origin, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training:
High School Diploma/GED preferred
Related Experience/Requirements:
- Food processing or food preparation experience preferred.
- Prior experience working in a production or warehouse environment is preferred.
- Prior experience using Multivac sealing equipment or labeling machinery desired.
- Knowledge of commercial seafood species desired.
- Capable of operating equipment that seals and labels product.
Food safety requirements.
- Capable of performing various duties that include manual stuffing of crab meat into fish fillets, packing cooked crab products, clean fish (while using a knife) adhering to food sanitation general safety requirements.
- Retain information concerning packed fish (i.e. item number, label type, etc.)
- Ability to safely operate packaging equipment/familiar with lockout/tag out or similar safety procedures.
: The work environment is cold (between the 35-45 degrees) and while performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle objects, or controls. Must be able to lift and/or move items up to 25-60 pounds.
