ESS is seeking a dynamic Product Manager to support the software and control system hardware of our next-generation asset management tool, including the interface of our energy storage solutions to the grid. This role is critical to the success of the organization and is expected to have an immediate impact on the company's product portfolio. The position requires an individual with a product-focused mentality to integrate near and long term technical and product development initiatives into a cohesive product strategy.
What you’ll do at ESS.
- Assess the current level of software and hardware development for our asset management product and establish a product roadmap to bring it to a fully functional Asset and Site Management tool/ecosystem capable of being fully integrated into existing grid management systems.
- Analyze costs and recommend pricing for the tool, including optional packages, and track costs as they evolve over time.
- Become the internal authority and point of contact for all customer requirements for the product.
- In concert with program management, drive successful programs through ensuring organizational alignment and definition of relevant, meaningful product requirements. (I would think this stays)
- Develop a deep understanding of the broader ecosystem of third-party inverters, controllers and software used by our clients in the operation of energy storage systems and develop relationships between ESS and those vendors, managing interface and interoperability of systems.
- Be aware of product problems and solution design patterns and will advise on whether to emulate or innovate.
- Develop deep knowledge of issues and perspective key decisions with the executive team.
- Plan and lead execution of product and solution launches.
- Become a trusted partner of other internal teams, including engineering, finance, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure organizational product alignment and cross-company communications.
- Own migrating product roadmap within approved timelines using approved strategies (e.g., sales channel development, manufacturing plans, EPC support, after sales support).
- Actively support customer engagement and sales cycles with Sales team.
What you bring to the Table.
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or the equivalent combination of experience in a relevant industry and education.
- Demonstrated experience in developing solutions that integrate energy storage with embedded and isolated grid solutions, including microgrids.
- Understanding of SCADA, SunSpec, and other communication standards.
- Proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and execute in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a strong ownership mentality.
- Able to travel up to 20% of the time to international and domestic locations, as needed, per project.
- Familiarity with requirements for homologation and deployment of similar products/systems in foreign countries.
- Strong negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills.
- Demonstrated success in product management roles in any of the following fields is preferred:
- Battery energy storage systems, fuel cells, etc.
- Electric utility based B2B products.
- PV systems and solutions for commercial customers.
- Large scale industrial systems (hardware and software) integration.
- Distributed energy resource integration or controls.
