Compensation range of $75,000 to $95,000 depending on experience.
*This range reflects Carestream's good faith estimate to pay fairly as starting wage. Offers will be tailored within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process, as well as geographic market differentials for the position.
Position Summary:
The Product Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that product consistently meets specifications and on time delivery to customers, including understanding demand forecasts, dispositioning product, monitoring process conditions, implementing statistical process controls, and escalating issues as appropriate. This engineer will lead and coordinate product, quality, and process development and improvement efforts in the Carestream Health Rochester Solvent Coating Plant. This will include developing validation/accreditation plans, trial execution, analyzing trial results and data, developing test methods, statistical analysis and tracking for product quality management, leading risk assessments, writing and gaining approval of CMRs, leading safety assessments and change management, and leading root cause analysis activities.
This engineer will be expected to lead technical efforts and use appropriate project planning, troubleshooting, experimental design, and lean manufacturing tools to drive product, process, and quality improvements. The person in this role will be primary technical contact for assigned products or projects with internal and/or external customers and work to ensure that customer deliverables are met in a timely and efficient manner.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Monitor quality, productivity, and delivery for assigned product(s).
  • Work with planning and operations to prepare paperwork, solutions, manufacturing conditions, and quality testing for manufacturing events.
  • Make manufacturing decisions with regards to quality, manufacturing conditions, and product release.
  • Lead process or equipment improvement projects and meetings.
  • Troubleshoot environmental, quality, and production issues to identify root cause and implement solutions.
  • Work with the team to proactively identify and take measures to address concerns with product quality, regulatory documentation, test systems, and process issues.
  • Develop accreditation and trial run plans.
  • Work Hours: Day shifts for 40+ hours each week. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include 24-hour coverage (phone) if needed to support manufacturing.

Required Skills & Education:
  • BA, BS, or MS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar degree, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Commitment to safety and safe work practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
  • Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.

Desired Skills:
  • Ability to identify root cause of problems and effectively implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Experience with Excel VBA.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Experience with the SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
  • Project management knowledge including organization, Gantt charts, leading meetings, assigning action items, and monitoring project progress.
  • Familiarity with roll-to-roll solvent coating operations and slot-die solvent coating technology.

Work Environment:
Traditional Office Environment: This position is primarily an office setting with standard temperature and humidity controls, moderate to light noise, fluorescent lighting, primarily sitting with standing desks available, extensive computer and keyboard use, etc.
