Product Engineer

TE Connectivity's Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

AD&M Product Engineering is looking for a Product Engineer to support product growth and sustaining activities associated with ARINC 600 and ARINC 600 Next Generation Connectors. This individual will work with product management, operations, procurement, quality, and other functions as required to develop and sustain products. It is essential for this individual to be capable of and enjoy working with multiple projects and manage them to completion as required by the business. 

Preferred candidate should be experienced in designing/developing interconnection components used in aerospace, defense and/or marine (military and large maritime vessels) marketplace. Working knowledge of 3-D CAD systems such as Creo, Pro E, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar is required. Other areas of working knowledge including machining processes, polymer molding, plating and finishing processes and other areas commonly used in the design and support of connector products highly desired. 

Responsibilities: 

• Provide product line support on products transferred from Development Engineering as well as existing product lines. 
• Design product extensions to meet customer performance, quality, cost and schedule objectives  
• Work with global manufacturing resources, procurement, and outside suppliers to meet all TE technical, quality, and cost objectives.  
• Review customer documents, identify and develop BOM, gather necessary costs for RFQs submitted by customers 
• Initiate Engineering Changes as required 
• Provide technical and application support for customers, internal Sales, Marketing, and Engineering 
• Provide an Exceptional Customer Experience to internal and external customers.  
• Lead/oversee product validation and/or qualification testing.  
• Report and present projects at technical reviews, updates, and decision forums.  
• Perform all tasks in compliance with Tyco Electronics Quality Systems including ISO 9001 and AS9100  

Qualifications: 

• A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required. 
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience. 
• Experience with 3D CAD applications such as PTC Creo, Pro E, or SolidWorks and CAE for structural and thermal analysis. 
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Power Point, Project, Excel.  
• Experience with terminal and connector requirements & testing is preferred. 
• Experience with small precision plastic part design is preferred.  

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 

• Ability to work in a hands-on environment. 
• Ability to work with internationally located support functions. 
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills  
• Knowledge of Aerospace terminal and connector technologies and related manufacturing processes  
• Knowledge of molding and machining processes. 
• Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma and LEAN Manufacturing (Green Belt in Six Sigma is desirable). 
• Must be self-motivated, highly organized, detail oriented and able to manage projects with minimal supervision, including multiple projects and multi task situations, with the ability to prioritize, set and achieve goals.
