We are launching the recruiting season for our robust 7-week intern program for Summer 2024 and looking for a Product Development Intern (R&D.) The internship period will be June 17 - August 2, 2024.
What you will be doing:
The Product Development Intern will be responsible for supporting MegaMex/Don Miguel Foods Product Development team on a variety of initiatives.
In this role, the Product Development intern will collaborate with cross functional partners in the organization involving Marketing, Procurement, Processing, Packaging, Food Safety Quality, and external suppliers.
The required support from this position includes assisting in PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT design, lab testing using various analytical equipment and tools, sensory evaluation of ingredients and finished foods, coordination of line trials and/or lab testing, management of project timelines and communication of project status to internal business partners.
As an intern, you will be exposed to the following key components through orientation meetings, shadowing and on the job training.
- Bench top and/or pilot plant production of prototypes
- Plant Trials
- Formulating and procuring ingredients
- Product cuttings
- Sensory Analysis
- Shelf life
- Sales and Marketing
- Interns are assigned objectives that support key business initiatives and are provided an outline of the deliverables and expected measurable results.
- Feedback against these objectives is provided mid-way through and upon completion of the internship.

What you will bring to the team:
Must be a current student enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s Degree Program for Food Science
Completed Food Chemistry Course
Completed Food Safety/Microbiology/Food Processing courses.
Strong communication Skills
Strong functionality with Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint)
