Product Development - Full-time Experienced R&D Scientist
Seeking talent with Product Development experience in food consumer packaged goods. Product development experience in one or more of the following product categories is preferred: Dry mix baked goods, frosting, breads, cereals, dairy products, flavors, frozen breakfast pastries, pizza/pizza snacks, ready-to-eat sweet baked goods, refrigerated/frozen doughs, snack bars, soup/thermal processing. Positions are full-time and range from 3 months to 1 year. Please see attached list for all FT Experienced Product Developer positions we are looking to fill. Candidates must reside in or within daily commuting distance of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
The right candidate for these roles will be able to make internal and external connections to leverage pipelines, portfolios, and technologies for innovation. The right candidates will also be successful at developing great partnerships with cross functional partners, have superior project management skills, and have strong formulation and process development skills. The projects managed in these roles will provide the opportunity to lead complex projects, advance science, and build new capabilities, processes, and business partnerships.
Job Responsibilities: As an experienced Research and Development Scientist for Innovation, Technology, and Quality (ITQ) you will be responsible for new product and/or cost reduction strategy, concept development, product formulation, and process development. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to impact the ITQ function by leveraging your knowledge, skills and expertise to create new possibilities in the platform by leading process development and innovation and advancing technical possibilities by bringing strategic differentiation to the *** product portfolio. Responsibilities may include any of the following, depending on the scope of the assigned project:
Take products from bench top to full production while collaborating fully in a cross functional environment
Develop new products, make product improvements, and contribute to concept refinement and product start-ups
Drive projects through appropriate consumer, descriptive, and discrimination testing to enhance product knowledge from its initial concept state to its appearance on grocers' shelves
Partner with global teams to identify new opportunities and solve technical challenges
Build technical expertise in new areas and share knowledge across the organization
Identify cost savings opportunities by challenging formulation and processing assumptions
Execute commercialization of projects efficiently and with excellence
Standard Education and Experience Levels:
- 3+ years of experience in Product Development
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Food Science or related field
Other required skill-sets or qualifications:
- Proven ability to deliver executional excellence, facilitate cultural learning, and develop technical and scientific rigor
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to multiple situations
- Demonstrated ability to lead technically driven projects; strong technical background
- Self-starter with a strong bias for action as well as skills for problem-solving and trouble-shooting
- Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional and external environment and provide key product guidance
- Innovative thinker, creative, willing to challenge established methods and beliefs
- Some assignments may require travel so a willingness to travel is a plus
