Produce Associate

Martindale’s Natural Market is seeking a full-time, Produce Clerk to join our growing retail team. The ideal candidate has a teacher’s heart and loves to learn and communicate to others. Those with excellent attention to detail and able to learn quickly combined with a love of independent learning are encouraged to apply to our grocery marketing position.
Education:
Less than a High School Diploma
High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)

Tasks

• Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
• Receive and store food supplies, equipment, and utensils in refrigerators, cupboards, and other storage areas.
• Remove trash and clean containers.
• Carry supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas.
• Use manual or electric appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim produce.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, or silverware.
• Stock vegetables and fruits according to customers' orders or supervisors' instructions, following approved procedures.
• Take and record temperature of food and food storage areas such as refrigerators.
• Wash, peel, and cut various foods, such as fruits and vegetables.
• Inform supervisors when equipment is not working properly and when food and supplies are getting low, and order needed items.
• Replenish stock and goods on display shelves
• Rotate products and goods according to the company's instructions
• Greet customers with a warm smile as they enter the store
• Help customers navigate their way through the store
• Create a positive and friendly environment for customers
• Assist with the customer orders by retrieving items from the relevant sections
• Remove expired products from the display
• Ensure shelves are clean and neat

Activities
Preferred Qualification

• Experience in safe food handling in a grocery store preferred
• Basic knowledge of produce and grocery items
• Strong sense of hygiene and cleanliness
• Helpful and enthusiastic
• Excellent customer service and mannerism
• Friendly and approachable
• Flexible to work day, and evening, overnight and weekend shifts as required
• Able to stand and walk around for long periods at a time
• Able to move, lift and carry a minimum of 50lbs

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
