DPC has current openings for Procurement Contracting Officer. This position may offer a mix of in office and teleworking after an initial period. Interviews will take place in February 2024 and job offers for selected candidates will be made after interviews are complete.

The Department of Purchasing and Contracting (DPC) is responsible for effective and efficient procurement of goods, materials and services, supporting County departments. DPC procures all goods and services for the County of San Diego, as provided for in the County Charter. DPC ensures the competitive process is used for best price and highest quality while conforming to purchasing regulations and emphasizing excellent customer service practices. Procurement Contracting Officers work with representatives from all County departments to develop procurement strategies and documents and negotiate the highly complex fixed-price, time and material, and cost-reimbursement contracts for supplies and services.
Procurement Contracting Officers are responsible for highly complex procurements and negotiations, contract portfolio management, strategic procurement planning, and negotiating, fixed-price, time and material, and cost-reimbursement type contracts. Procurement Contracting Officers also provide technical guidance to Procurement Contracting Specialists, Procurement Specialists, and Assistant Procurement Specialists.

SELECTION INTERVIEW DATES
- Job Offer and Background Process begins in February2024.
- Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
- Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1) A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency, preferably in accounting, finance, marketing, business administration, economics or a closely related field; AND two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in contracting, at least one (1) of which is equivalent to the Procurement Contracting Specialist and at a highly regulated industry or public agency; OR,
2) One (1) year of experience as a Procurement Contracting Specialist with the County of San Diego.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
