Job description

Coeur Rochester, a subsidiary of Coeur Mining Inc. based near Lovelock, Nevada is seeking a Process Manager to join our team at the Rochester Mine. This position qualifies for relocation assistance for the right candidate.


Reporting to the Mine General Manager, the Process Manager is responsible for the overall management, direction and coordination of leach pad, processing, assay and metallurgical operations, including maintenance and support. The Process Manager ensures safe and environmentally compliant operations and meets production objectives at the lowest possible cost. The Process Manager is responsible for the performance of the following duties in a safe and productive manner:

Job Duties

  • Lead and manage the process area in a manner intrinsically grounded in the company’s values and vision, providing clear direction and leadership to all team members;
  • Coach and mentor process team members to improve performance, ensure ongoing growth and development, and create organic succession plans;
  • Set clear priorities for supervisory team in support of business plans, with well-defined expectations and criteria of success;
  • Manage all contractors and employees to ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures, safety and environmental standards, and local and company regulations;
  • Ability to safely and efficiently manage operational activities and deliver productivity improvements in a complex process plant;
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex troubleshooting analyses and resolve a wide variety of plant-wide issues;
  • Ability to manage change effectively and to create and implement sustainable solutions;
  • Manage the overall design of process flowsheets, plant layouts, material handling systems, equipment procurement and material utilization;
  • Lead, direct, and support all aspects of laboratory test work covering flotation, acid and caustic cracking, leach, solvent extraction and separation processes;
  • Manage the metallurgical performance of processing facilities and lead best operating practices;
  • Monitor and analyze key metallurgical performance indicators of process operations and recommends corrective actions to the operations team;
  • Demonstrated business improvement achievements and ability to implement strategic plans;
  • Develop practical, viable contingency plans in response to key risks to ensure plan delivery;
  • Coordinate all plant engineering tasks, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, utilities, and general services;
  • Ensuring execution of work in accordance with design, specifications, and instructions;
  • Works with the Operations Manager and technical personnel on process engineering activities, plant equipment selection and production schedules;
  • Develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) used for process and operations teams.
  • Report out on plant objectives and performance in a clear, transparent manner to all levels of the organization and, when required, outside stakeholders;
  • Develop and execute the Process area’s annual business plan and strategy, in alignment with corporate strategies and expectations for financial and productivity performance;
  • Develop and manage the capital expenditure and operating budgets for the Process area, in alignment with site and company business objectives.

Physical Requirements

  • Follow all procedures and safety measures to assure safe production;
  • Work in all conditions and environments;
  • Able to walk up and down slopes, stairs, and uneven ground daily.


Workplace Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Technical Diploma in Mineral Process, Metallurgical, Chemical, or Mining Engineering or related field; Masters level degree or equivalent preferred;
  • Minimum of 10+ years of mineral processing experience with broad management responsibilities;
  • Work as a team member and communicate openly with others;
  • Self-directed and able to take leadership role on many projects;
  • In-depth technical knowledge of oxide ore metallurgy process with emphasis on heap leaching and gold/silver extraction methodologies;
  • Strong computer skills (i.e., MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint);
  • Written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking, data analysis, problem solving and time management;
  • Ability to set clear objectives and goals, monitor progress, measure performance and evaluate results;
  • Possess strong leadership in the areas of health, safety and environmental stewardship;
  • Experience in leading and building teams and who empowers others, provides guidance and is open to feedback and constantly strives to improve.
