Job Summary

The Process Lead Back Office Billing is responsible to lead a team of analysts that plans, directs and implements business objectives related to various electric rates, billing and bill requirements and third party vendors required to produce daily customer bills. Plan,   manage and utilize various IT systems, and direct third party vendors associated with the accurate and timely billing of LIPA’s 1.2 million electric customers, representing approximately 1 billion dollars in revenue per month. The position is accountable to ensure that Company initiatives, driven by external stakeholders (NYS/DPS/PSC/LIPA), are successfully implemented, and adhere to State and Federal guidelines. Additionally, it provides oversight in the development and testing of product designs for Third Party Billing and Projects. In addition to implementing standard electric rates, the position leads the implementation of new initiatives related to Time of Day rates (TOD), Community Net Solar programs, LI Choice programs, Electric vehicles, Geothermal energy programs and associated rates and is responsible to provide direction necessary to establish and adopt best practice across PSEG LI's billing processes, while managing relationships with third party vendors. The position also plans, oversees and develops related rate and rate program campaigns including messaging, materials, tactics and KPIs. 

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of standard electric and various new billing/rate initiatives as they relate to Time of Day (TOD), Community Solar, Electric Vehicles, Geothermal Energy and Solar Energy Storage programs and initiatives. Plan,   manage and utilize various IT systems, and direct third party vendors associated with the accurate and timely billing of LIPA’s 1.1 million electric customers, representing approximately 1 billion dollars in revenue per month.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators, driving enrollment and/or customer engagement in special billing/rate programs and billing of it.  Ensure development and effective implementation of activities/plans to meet billing program objectives.
  • Lead initiatives to improve billing/rate program awareness including partnering with marketing and communications teams; identify training needs and provide training and educational materials (i.e.; benefits, eligibility, regulations, and policies, etc. ), for use with internal/external stakeholders; customers and employees.
  • Lead process improvement efforts driving implementation of technological solutions to enhance and/or automate manual billing processes. Monitor, analyze and provide timely feedback to determine effectiveness of implemented solutions and provide corrective action and alternate solutions as required.
  • Provide oversight and direction to group of analysts in accordance with the organization's mission and objectives and regulatory/program requirements. Coach, mentor, and develop staff. Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegate responsibility and ensure accountability and regular feedback.
Job Specific Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7 years’ experience (in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 12 years of experience) in Customer Operations, Communications, Project Management, Business or Accounting 
  • Strong analytical, decision making, problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to effectively develop and execute work plans. Must possess well-developed interpersonal, leadership and time management skills, planning and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated competencies and ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities in a fast changing environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service focus and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Ability to manage or lead analytical workforce 
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of organization, including making presentations and designing/delivering technical based training
  • Must demonstrate a sense of teamwork and initiative through working in a team environment
  • Self-driven and capable of prioritization with minimal oversight 
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments within the organization to ensure that projects align with corporate goals and objectives
  • Ability to Manage employee performance to ensure it  meets company standards
