Position Description:
Provides training, development, documentation, and continuous improvement activities to assigned area of responsibility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Below are examples of the type of duties you could be responsible for:
  • Evaluates the quality and impact to employees and makes changes as needed to build and strengthens individual and organizational capacity required to support the organizational needs.
  • Creates, revises, and audits site-specific content.
  • Ensures skills matrix is updated and accurately reflects what each employee is trained in, including capturing that each employee cannot run certain machinery until they have been trained.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including all scheduled production hours and OT.
  • Technician must always maintain good attendance.
  • Work with Engineering/BOM/Production to develop new SWI documents.
  • Audit current SWI documents for accuracy and make necessary updates weekly.
  • Perform monthly safety Audits of work Zones, identify potential opportunities, and develop corrective/preventative counter measures.
  • Work directly with Supervisors/Manager to complete department projects on time and complete.
  • Develop opportunities within the department for Improvements to add to our projects plan.
  • Turn in weekly CI Action logs related to assigned tasks from Supervisors/Manager.
  • Assist in the development of the area 5S plan, develop countermeasures, track progress to goals, update logs, and assist in leading the development of a sustainable 5S plan for the area.
  • Perform 5S audits to ensure plan and sustainability are maintained.
  • Coach/teach the meaning/reasoning behind 5S to the team members on the floor.
  • Assist with time studies, standard work, experiments, and Gemba walks as needed.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in a Wabash manufacturing environment for minimum of 1-3 years
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including an enthusiastic and energetic approach in motivating employees.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet and deal tactfully and courteously with fellow employees and vendors/contractors.
  • Ability to understand complex written and oral instructions.
  • Thorough knowledge of the occupation hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties.
  • Must have physical ability to perform floor and yard production positions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with initiative.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of plant systems, equipment, and operations
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Strong team player, results orientated, dedication to excellence and sense of urgency to achieve business objectives.
  • Ability to apply good judgement, effective decision-making skills, strong work ethics and integrity on the job.
  • Serve as team's representative to other departments of organizations.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be able to perform basic math skills.
  • Must be able to communicate change and demonstrate an open mind to change and growth.

Preferred Skills:
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish)
  • Problem solving experience (5 Why, Fishbone)
  • Microsoft Office (excel, word, Visio)

Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:
Process Engineer Tech experience and education are great to come into this position with. However, it's not required, here at Wabash, we give you the training to become comfortable in any Process Engineer Tech position. Upon receiving an offer letter from us, you'll undergo orientation and several days of training, preparing you for the production floor.

Working Conditions/Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. An employee in this position works in an environment in which safety, environmental, and health concerns may demand constant attention. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites such as the noise level in the work environment can be very loud with high temperatures at times.
All employees on the production floor must wear the necessary personal production equipment (PPE). Physical Demands:
As a Process Engineer Tech, you are regularly required to stand, walk, lean, push, climb, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, handle and operate tools or controls for the length of their entire shift. The employee needs full range of motion in their arms and hands in this position. All Process Engineer Tech must be able to successfully communicate with fellow employees as well. Some Process Engineer Tech also work in small spaces throughout their shift and frequently lift and/or carry objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus, along with good hand-eye coordination.
