Title: Process Engineer

Location: Sugar Land, TX


Description:

Our Cables Manufacturing Team is seeking a skilled Process Engineer specializing in the processing of polymeric materials to play a vital role in supporting our production operations.

As a key member of our manufacturing team, your primary focus will be on providing essential support for the production of Wireline, Seismic, Slickline, Artificial Lift, and other challenging cables. Collaborating closely with various teams within the manufacturing and engineering groups, you will spearhead the development of new processes aimed at enhancing our cable production capabilities. Your responsibilities will encompass supporting manufacturing production of commercial products, advancing polymer material development, polymer selection, and pioneering new processes essential for the development of innovative cables.

You will be tasked with managing multiple projects, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of diverse interests while demonstrating exemplary communication and teamwork skills. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in performing technical and supervisory work related to the development of polymeric materials and engaging in joint R&D projects in collaboration with major or venture polymer vendors to drive the innovation of novel polymeric materials and processes.


Responsibilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of extruder design, including barrel, screw, flow diverter, and extrusion tooling for different polymers.

  • Carry out specific Polymeric Materials and Technology related cable projects with innovativeness and close coordination with cable design groups at HCS.

  • Responsible for specifying polymeric materials, processing, and testing, and conducting polymer vendor technical audits if needed.

  • Possess the ability to independently identify and organize approaches to job responsibilities and solve polymer-related problems as they arise.

  • Design extrusion tools, especially dies and tips, for extruding a wide range of polymers from polyolefins to costly Fluoropolymers.

  • Troubleshoot extrusion processes and other polymer processing operations

  • Responsible for polymer analysis of cable failures, discussing results with other teams, and drawing conclusions.

  • Plan and schedule the acquisition of required polymer processing parts/lines and supplies

  • Propose existing or potential problem areas in cable design to be investigated and offer solutions.

  • Recognize valid experimental information and possess the necessary knowledge to make correct interpretations.


Minimum Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Polymer Engineering, Material Science, or related field. Advanced degree preferred for Bachelor's candidates, with a focus on Polymers and Polymer Engineering.

  • Minimum 2-3 years of industry experience, with a strong background in polymer processing is required. Experience with polymer extrusion is highly desirable.

  • High energy and drive, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and an ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

  • ability to effectively communicate and manage operators and technicians to optimize production processes.
