Job Description
- Organize and supervise the extraction of metals and minerals from surface and underground ore deposits
- Knowledge and background in hydrometallurgical principles and practices, especially those concerning mineral crystallization, brine evaporation, and milling technologies
- Monitor the flow of samples being processed at the mill and sample preparation facilities
- Processing samples through the geochemical laboratory to ensure the maximum amount of minerals and ore are being extracted in the most stable and high-quality concentrations
- Conduct on-site testing and research to identify ways to improve systems to ensure maximum extractions
- Troubleshooting operational inefficiencies and implementing operational inefficiencies
- Write detailed engineering reports that display processing findings from the mill/lab/prep facilities
- Follow company, local, state, and federal safety procedures and protocols
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with emphasis in Metallurgical, Chemical, Mechanical, Mining
- 10-25 years of experience in operations and consulting, or as an engineer or manager on construction projects for mineral processing plants, preferably in the mining industry
- Ability to work in conditions which might entail extreme weather conditions, to visit and evaluate greenfield sites (which might entail substantial walking and working in moderately steep terrain), and to be able to travel freely to jobsites throughout the world
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project
- Familiar with OSHA and MSHA safety practices
- Master’s Degree in Engineering and PE preferred, but not required
