We are looking for a Process Development Engineer to join our world-class team. This position requires an experienced professional with hands-on experience of all aspects of battery pack and module assembly and test processes. The Role:
- Own the process map across all Prototype Battery Pack and Module build activities (including: Cell placement, Adhesive dispense, Wire Bonding, Hioki, Enclosure assembly, Busbar fitment, coolant system fitment, integrity and End of Line checks)
- Manage each process step to determine dependencies, enablers and risks
- Manage Risk Assessment to understand EHS hazards and risks for each process and piece of capability
- Develop process improvement plans to ensure safety of personnel
- Develop process improvement plans to improve efficiency of operations
- Identify risks to Business Continuity and develop mitigation plans
- Lead introduction and development of new processes
- Complete Pack and Module assembly gap analysis between all locations and propose alignment actions
- Support Battery capability Roadmap and development of Investment plan
- Work in conjunction with Powertrain Central Ops to develop and implement preventative maintenance plans across all capability
- Work in conjunction with Powertrain Central Ops to develop and implement calibration plans across all capability
- Identify training needs across team and support implementation
- Scope of role to include Battery Pack and Module test activities
Qualifications:
- 1+ years (post Masters/PhD) or 2+ years (post Bachelors) experience in a relevant battery testing or associated role.
- Hands on experience with build and testing equipment and methods.
- Experience with HV Battery assembly processes
- Experience with assembly automation and equipment
- Basic knowledge and proper handling of battery cells
- Familiarity with the safety aspects of HV batteries and battery testing
- Excellent communication skills and team-oriented attitude.
- Comfortable with initiating and taking ownership of projects.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced startup environment with frequent prioritization adjustments.
Preferred:
- Experience with Atlassian, Jira and Confluence.
- A history of working independently with limited oversight or input once a base understanding has been established.
- Familiar with electrical schematics
- High voltage certification
- Experience with CAD in at least one professional 3D CAD package, preferably Catia (V5 or V6) with the ability to generate drawings.
- Experience of basic fabrication and an ability to communicate effectively with machine shop staff.
- An ability to mitigate unforeseen problems creatively and effectively.
- Experience working with high-voltage, high current systems (power supplies, batteries, etc.)
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering or other related field or equivalent work experience.
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions ,including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
- California (Bay Area) - starting from $104,000 per year - $143,000 per year
