General Summary Statement

The Hourly Supervisor position is vital to overseeing the Bistro operations to ensure all food is prepared and served according to health and safety regulations, the facility is clean, and the customers are satisfied with their service. They assist in managing the staff and play a large role in the ability to maintain positive employee relations.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the sanitation of prep workstations including floors, worktables, walls, refrigerators, equipment, and utensils.
    • Oversees the workers on duty and ensure that they are properly trained and adhere to the Penn Medicine Nutrition Services food handling policy.
    • Oversees the cooking and preparation of food items for the day according to recipes and Starbucks Brand Requirements.
    • Ensure staff completes daily temperature logs, dish machine logs, and creamer case log.
    • Oversee the product merchandising, line displays, and distribution of marketing materials for promotions.
    • Provide on-going coaching and performance feedback to staff members
    • Responsible for making sure the staff properly disposes of waste.
    • Work alongside staffing throughout the daily operation and assist and or cover with labor shortages as needed.
    • Ensure correct ordering and inventory standards using ordering guides.
    • Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing all safety standards and assisting with safety observations.
    • Making sure that inventory is completed every Monday and Thursday for US Foods delivery.
    • Completing the weekly audit checks for each drawer and manager only safe; provide change request twice a week (or as needed)
    • Providing each drawer change before their shift.
    • Helping with implementation of new products or services as needed
    • Completing Eye wash station check and form weekly.
    • Reporting to Retail Manager each week on any issues, equipment/product updates, and any necessary information that is needed.
    • Providing customer service and support to staff daily, before completing supervisor tasks and side responsibilities
    • Complete monthly OR Breakroom supply list and hand into Administration Assistant to be charged

    Education Training and Experience

    High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of two years experience in a health care facility. Good interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills.

    Must be familiar with institutional kitchen equipment, computer, calculator, phone etiquette and cash handling. A degree in Nutrition or Foodservice Management preferred.


    Licensure/Certification Preferred
