Recovery Support/Med Techs provide structure and support in the residential milieu for men, women, and children being served by SFRC. Provide a wide range of interventions and support techniques to ensure smooth operations and a supportive living environment for clients in residential treatment, including but not limited to assisting in the administration of medication, checking of vitals, and crisis intervention. Engage with residents in daily activities and provide recovery support for individuals and families receiving treatment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct care of residents in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort.

Consult with other disciplines and related professional and paraprofessional staff to support the specific needs of clients.

Maintain professionalism with clients and coworkers.

Assist with admission and orientation of new clients admitted to the facilities, including Rules of Residency and Health and Safety requirements.

With the Clinical Team, ensure clients comply with the requirements of the treatment program.

Facilitate Focus groups with clients to discuss issues arising in a residential environment.

Assist clients with self-administration of medication according to medical orders; create MAR and document.

Order and pick up client medications.

Transport clients to appointments when required.

Perform a count of medications per established procedures.

Conduct daily charting on all clients.

Perform rounds every 15-30 minutes on all shifts.

Perform bedroom checks.

Monitor client chores and laundry according to daily schedule. 

Ensure oversight of linens and other program supplies.

Coordinate with Med Tech Supervisor to inventory and order medical and other programmatic supplies as needed.

Maintain confidentiality in accordance with State and Federal law and perform duties in accordance with SFRC Code of Ethics and Policies and Procedures.

Understand and maintain HIPAA and 42CFR Part 2 confidentiality standards relative to SFRC.

Provide coordination, availability, and full participation in all aspects of any programmatic review, survey, site visits, and/or program evaluation.

Perform and/or coordinate other special assignments and tasks as required by Med Tech Supervisor.

Be willing to work in an environment supporting mothers and infants and young children.

Conduct comprehensive client intakes, gathering necessary information and completing required documentation.

Perform urine drug screens following established protocols, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

Maintain a professional and welcoming environment during intake procedures.

Perform routine vital sign assessments including blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, and respiration rate.

Assist clients with daily activities, ensuring their comfort and well-being.

Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to guarantee a secure environment for clients.

Act promptly and efficiently in emergency situations, following established protocols.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

1. Skill in preparing, maintaining, and overseeing client records.

2. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency or crisis situations.

3. Ability to maintain health and safety and infection control standards.

4. Computer experience, knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to learn MS Office and electronic medical records system (EMR-Bear).

5. Ability to solve unexpected problems as they arise while considering liability, precedence, programmatic implications, and other possible future impacts on the program, services, or organization.

6. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.

7. Ability to exercise tact, patience, and discretion when dealing with residents, families, staff, and the public.

8. Ability to relate with understanding and kindness to residents and their families.

9. Ability to keep observations, conversations, and information confidential.

10. Have strategies for self-care, and stress management and maintain personal resilience to avoid burnout and provide sustained support.

11. Recognize and respect diverse cultural backgrounds and understand how they may impact recovery journeys.

12. Ability to have patience to support individuals through setbacks and relapses, while persistently encouraging process.

13. Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing.

14. Must have and maintain a current, valid NM Driver's License. Must provide and maintain a clean driving record, as well as auto insurance.

15. Certification in CPR, first aid, or relevant emergency response training is preferred.

16. In the case of a recovering person, he/she must have successfully maintained a two (2) year period of uninterrupted abstinence from alcohol and/or drugs.

17. Bi-lingual/Bi-cultural preferred (English/Spanish).

18. Strong understanding of safety protocols and best practices.


Education and Experience:

1. High School Diploma or GED.

2. Must be computer literate in order to effectively maintain compliance with licensing and certification standards and requirements for use of computerized client records & data systems.
