Job Description:
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced PRN Certified Surgical Tech to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Plastic Surgery and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist surgeons during cosmetic procedures, ensuring proper instrumentation and equipment are available and functioning.
- Prepare operating rooms for surgery, including sterilizing equipment and ensuring a clean and organized environment.
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons and surgical team members during procedures, providing assistance as needed.
- Maintain strict adherence to sterile techniques and infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Provide compassionate and supportive care to patients before, during, and after surgery.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing education to enhance skills and knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgery, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are sterile and ready for use
- Assist surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the procedure, following strict infection control protocols
- Monitor patients' vital signs during surgery and communicate any changes or concerns to the surgical team
- Prepare and maintain accurate medical records, documenting all procedures, medications, and patient information
- Analyze surgical instruments and equipment for proper functioning and report any issues or malfunctions
- Assist with patient transport to and from the operating room
- Clean and restock operating rooms after each procedure
Experience
To be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Surgical Technician in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology knowledge
- Familiarity with surgical systems and equipment
- Plastic surgery experience preferred
- Ability to analyze situations quickly and make sound decisions under pressure
- Basic life support (BLS) certification
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred.
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Surgical Tech, preferably in a Plastic Surgery setting.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently.
