Private Client Relationship Manager Team Leader

The Private Client Relationship Manager Team Leader is responsible for developing, managing and retaining a book of business focused in the domestic professional market. Maintain a highly dedicated professional relationship with each customer to ensure a big picture and unbiased approach to solving their overall financial situation. Coordinate with product specialists such as trust officers, investment consultants, etc. to integrate solutions. Ensure high standards of service quality are provided to customers to strengthen customer loyalty. Adhere to the Bank’s BSA/AML, Compliance and Security Policies and Procedures. Lead a team of Relationship Managers.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new client business using external knowledge of target market;
  • Assess customer goals and needs and provides comprehensive advice to customers on proper banking (deposit and lending) products;
  • Prepare and deliver proposals based on clients goals and needs;
  • Coordinate client meetings with product specialists (trust / investments) to support the sale of products and services; integrate and deliver proposals jointly with different areas and units of the bank;
  • Identify potential customer issues and channels them with the units responsible to solve them, ensuring the process of resolution is administered within the established parameters of quality and efficiency. Follows-up until issue is resolved;
  • Seek constant feedback by customers and identify quality issues within the group to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction;
  • Develop and execute strategies implemented by the Head of Private Banking to realize the market plan growth for the region. Increase market share (loans and deposits), working in close collaboration with private bankers to develop and maintain a list of key customers and prospects.
  • Scout potential talent. Select, coach, lead and motivate a team of Relationship Managers. Foster and maintain a positive and productive work environment to maximize results. Responsible for the performance, education and development of the Relationship Managers under their supervision.
  • Ensure performance in the areas of asset quality and profitability including accuracy and completeness of credit packages, proper loan servicing and timely coverage of past due and overdrafts.
  • Engage with the community. Participate in leadership roles in highly visible organizations, i.e. Chamber of Commerce and local charities.
  • Verify loan requests are within established internal policies prior to forwarding them to the Credit Department.
  • Review credit loan application with private bankers before submitting and maintaining current knowledge of Amerant’s Credit policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate business development call programs and evaluate the region’s business efforts. Participate in joint business development and client calls with private bankers when needed. Work closely with other business partners by making joint business calls whenever appropriate and participating in internal pipeline meetings.
  • Act as a customer advocate within and outside of the organization;
  • Identify and reports to immediate supervisor any current or prospective risks to earnings or capital arising from violations of, or nonconformance with, laws, rules, regulations, prescribed practices, internal policies and procedures or ethical standards;
  • Actively ensure compliance with Amerant Code of Ethics and all BSA/AML, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, information security and suspicious activity reporting requirements, policies and procedures;
  • Answer accurately and on a timely manner BSA/AML inquiries. Actively work with customers and his team to understand each customer’s normal account activity;

Work Experience:
7+ years of experience managing a book of business of high net worth customers
Experience in lending and management preferred

Education and Certifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related field
Relevant accredited professional certifications a plus

Technical Knowledge and Requirements:
Knowledge of investment and banking products
Proven ability to develop and maintain a book of business of high net work customers
Proficient using banking system platforms and Microsoft Office Products including: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook
Leadership, mentorship and coaching experience

Functional Knowledge and Requirements:
Must be a team player, have the ability to work under pressure, conduct business in a professional manner. Be able to resolve problems and conflicts, prioritize work and effectively manage time and change. Effective business communication skills verbally and in writing as well as presentation skills are required. Must demonstrate a passion for serving customers.
