The privacy team at Starbucks is focused on supporting our mission and values through compliance with relevant global laws and regulations and programs that allow Starbucks to deliver outstanding coffee experiences for customers. We strive to elevate the protection and appropriate collection and use of personal information. This role will focus on global compliance with privacy regulations and standards for Starbucks Licensees. In this role, you will build relationships with global licensee partners and conduct interviews and assessments in partnership with other compliance and risk-based internal teams. Using globally recognized privacy standards and principles and in alignment with the laws and regulations in the licensee market, you will assist in assessing how each Starbucks program meets global requirements. Must reside in the Seattle, WA, or Miami, FL area.
As a privacy analyst, you will...

  • Develop and maintain appropriate documentation that demonstrates program maturity and development, such as project plans, status reports, and presentations.
  • Assist with the review and assessment of privacy risks against industry frameworks and regulatory requirements within each market and licensee program.
  • Execute existing operational processes/procedures suggest improvements and demonstrate a good understanding of all governance documentation (policies, standards, processes, procedures, etc.)
  • Assist with privacy operations and customer-facing interaction channels, including email inbox.
  • Act as primary contact and project leader for licensees and establish yourself as a subject matter expert on global privacy topics.
  • Administer licensee privacy program including identifying, reporting, and resolving privacy risks and program assessment.
  • Provide appropriate guidance, education, training, and communication to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Work with Privacy, Global CyberSecurity, and Data Governance peers on assessments, templates, and integrated controls management.
  • Read and demonstrate an understanding of global laws, requirements, and regulations. Learn the potential impact of regional and international laws to Starbucks.
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate level of technical expertise needed to perform assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrate understanding and articulate how data ethics and the knowledge of "can we, should we" applies to privacy principles.
  • With support, describe and identify business risks vs. compliance-based risks and work with business units to reduce both types of risk for Licensees.
  • Follow and execute operational activities within an area of expertise, including processing requests, assessments, and incidents using prescribed procedures.
  • Coordinate small/medium-sized projects or segments/phases of medium/large projects for a business unit, department, or functional area.
  • Build positive relationships with team members, managers, contacts, and internal/external customers.
  • Identify metrics and document evidence of compliance in line with privacy requirements and controls.

We'd love to hear from people with:
  1. Experience in global customer data privacy, information risk management fields, or in a related area
  2. Experience with privacy impact assessments (PIA), privacy compliance documents, and privacy risk mitigation
  3. Experience creating privacy training and awareness programs
  4. Experience working with and influencing business leaders in the promotion of consistent principles and standards.
  5. Experience analyzing and evaluating information systems and data integrations for privacy risks
  6. Project management skills with proficiency in managing multiple projects simultaneously
  7. Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical staff
  8. Bachelor's Degree (Privacy, Compliance, Computer Science, Analytics, or related field) preferred.

  1. 2+ years of professional experience in a role involving analysis, project or process management, privacy, or related compliance areas.
  2. Certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or commitment to completing within the first year.
