POSITION SUMMARY:
Coordinate physician orders and records to obtain authorization from insurance coverage to secure reimbursement for services performed at Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE: 20 Hours per week. Schedule Flexibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Evaluates daily workload to prioritize work appropriately
- Communicates well with insurance companies, nurses and providers to obtain authorization, additional information or documentation as needed to complete the task
- Identifies documentation that may be helpful in securing the authorization
- Answers email, staff messages and voicemail timely
- Continually re-evaluates workload for prioritizing
- Expedites more "urgent" requests for improved patient care
- Communicates authorization outcomes timely and appropriately
- Documents authorization status in health information system
