We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Prior Authorization Specialist to join our cardiology team to work 30 to 36 hours a week. As a Prior Authorization Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that medical procedures and treatments are approved by insurance companies. Your strong knowledge of medical records, coding, and insurance verification will be essential in navigating the Prior Authorization process. ### Duties:
- Review and analyze medical records to determine the need for Prior Authorization
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits for patients
- Communicate with healthcare providers to gather necessary information for Prior Authorization requests
- Complete and submit Prior Authorization forms to insurance companies
- Follow up with insurance companies to track the status of Prior Authorization requests
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve any issues or discrepancies
- Maintain accurate documentation of all Prior Authorization activities
- Schedule procedures at the hospital
- Clear fax records
- Answer patient calls and take messages
### Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Prior Authorization Specialist or similar role in a medical office setting
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and HIPAA regulations
- Familiarity with managed care plans and insurance verification processes
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
