This position is for an Industrial Engineer at our Manchester, Iowa manufacturing location. The Industrial Engineer provides technical support to Operations in the form of enabling and improving the flow of manufacturing utilizing the disciplines of Industrial Engineering. Assignments range from straightforward and reactionary in nature to complex and strategic. Uses independent judgment to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities. Successful candidates will be self-motivated self-starter with excellent teaming abilities and familiar with electronics manufacturing processes, root cause analysis, and CORE/Lean/Six Sigma practices.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for technical problem definition and solution in manufacturing environment. Responsible to act as liaison with design engineering on incorporating changes to the designs which improve manufacturability.
  • Develop tools that enable manufacturing, aid process improvement or address safety concerns.
  • Contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards.
  • Leads cross-functional studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control through the application of Lean principles. Resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways.
  • Determines the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel.
  • Prepares cost estimates for proposed projects and evaluates cost factors.
  • Plans and designs facilities and layout for manufacturing processes and equipment, while accounting for economic factors, process flow, operator efficiency and comfort.
  • Develops solutions to a variety of complex IE problems. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Reviews product designs for producibility, providing technical input to correct design deficiencies in producibility.
  • Responsible for developing new assembly processes and making improvements to existing processes.
  • Conduct research studies on new processes, methods, and equipment, and make recommendations for acquisitions.
  • Implementation, improvement, trouble shooting of current and new machinery. Involving creating programs and validating results.
  • Responsible to lead and manage cross-functional projects with medium levels of complexity. Projects may have elements which are key to the success of the business unit.
  • Performs assignments requiring the use and application of moderate engineering economics principles and techniques.
  • Responsible for validating cost requirements/targets against pertinent business plan(s) and programmatic expectations.
  • Estimates project costs and schedules and participates in preparation of proposals and presentations.
  • Establish new approaches and techniques to achieve continuous improvement in all engineering economic disciplines.
  • Individual job duties may vary.
  • Lead responsibility of onboarding new machinery and validating process control of new machinery
  • Develop and maintain appropriate documentation in accordance with applicable procedures.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Electronics Manufacturing experience
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience
  • Strong knowledge of Root Cause Analysis experience
  • Understating of SAP
  • Experience with SAP, Excel & Data Analysis
  • Experience in Solidworks / CAD
  • Experience with continuous improvement in a manufacturing setting
