Shutterfly is looking for a Principal Mobile Backend Engineer to join their team! In this role, you will be at the forefront of driving innovation in mobile applications. Your primary focus will be the development and optimization of the backend systems that power our mobile apps to help ensure they deliver exceptional user experiences. 

What You’ll Do Here:

•  Lead the design, development, and optimization of the backend systems that support our mobile applications, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with a global teams, effectively bridging time zones and geographies to deliver impactful solutions.
• Design and implement backend architecture that supports the requirements of our mobile applications, ensuring they meet high standards of code quality, scalability, and security.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to the development team, fostering best practices and knowledge sharing.
• Stay at the forefront of Mobile Backend technologies and industry trends, bringing innovative ideas and solutions to the table.
• Ensure the quality of the backend code through effective testing strategies and maintain high standards for code quality and reliability.
• Optimize the backend systems for scalability, performance, and efficient resource utilization.
• Create and maintain technical documentation to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing across the team.
• Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver features that meet user needs and expectations

The Skills You’ll Bring:

• 7+ years of experience in Mobile Backend development, with a strong focus on designing and building scalable systems.
• Proficiency in backend technologies and frameworks, such as Java, Python, Ruby, and Node.js.
• In-depth knowledge of databases, including SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with cloud services AWS Platform.
• Proven ability to work effectively with remote teams and across time zones.
• Demonstrated experience in providing technical leadership and mentoring to development teams.
• Track record in optimizing backend systems for scalability and performance.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

It is helpful, but not required to have:

• Experience with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment.
• Knowledge of mobile app development, particularly for iOS and Android.
• Experience in e-commerce or photo related industries
• Understanding of microservices architecture
