The Integrated Solutions Modeling and Architecture Directorate performs customer focused operational analysis, simulation, Mission Planning and architecture development activities within Raytheon, an RTX company. Join this highly visible team and perform highly technical assignments, directly contributing to protecting our nation and our warfighters. Specifically, we are looking for a Principal Software Engineer for the role of Mission Planning Team Lead for the Hypersonic Attack Cruise Missile (HACM) program in our Tucson location. The position will be functionally aligned in the ISMA Mission Solutions Design Department. The Mission Planning Section’s goals are to assist in developing a system Concept of Operation for the entire process from Mission Planning to weapon employment; to support, drive, and enable key business captures/current programs; execute special projects, and drive corporation-wide business opportunities.
This position requires on-site work in our Tucson location.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
You will lead with a program team of Software Engineers to execute complex Mission Planning development for this critical program
Be the “go-to” source for Mission Planning expertise
Develop common Mission Planning solutions for this program that will also be leveraged for other similar programs
Develop team expertise in Mission Planning methods, software development and tools
Grow a Mission Planning cadre that can assist other similar programs
Coordinate with other IPTs, Program Chief Engineer, and Program Management
Develop capability delivery plans and lead team execution in an agile framework
Engage directly in Mission Planning application software development and test
You will provide guidance, direction, mentoring and influencing skills, and foster teamwork, interdependent execution with younger Engineers
Some travel will be required – anticipated 10% domestic, more frequent travel between various sites in Tucson.
Qualifications You Must Have:
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
With the above degree, typically requires eight (8) years of documented professional experience in one or more of the following technical domains (an Advanced Degree in a related field can satisfy up to 3 years of experience):
Software architecture, design, development, integration, and verification (Linux, virtual machines, C#, C++, Java)
Excellent knowledge of the software development life cycle
Common Weapon Component experience
Microsoft Visual C++/C# experience
DLL development experience
Experience with Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS), Common Weapon Component
Experience in any of these related topics:
System performance, CONOPS
Algorithms and signal processing
Aerodynamics, Launch Acceptability Regions, Modeling and simulation (i.e., 6-DOF)
Aircraft integration and store interface (i.e. MIL STD 1553 and 1760)
Datalink and GPS configuration and keying
Experience with Microsoft Office tool suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate with subordinates, customers, and senior managers throughout the company’s organizations
U.S. Citizenship required, as the candidate must have an active secret security clearance day one of employment
Qualifications We Value:
Advanced Degree in Computer Science
Direct experience developing Mission Planning software
Experience with microservice architecture and Software Engineering
Strong mentoring skills, both technically and professionally
Experience and knowledge of the Integrated Product Development System (IPDS), Earned Value Management, Proposals and Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
Top Secret clearance

Requires advanced to expert knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
May have broad knowledge of project management.
Requires substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems in order to provide enhancements within job area.
Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
