Department Overview
The team of Gas Engineering ensures the delivery of safe and reliable gas service to our customers. Gas Engineering is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's gas distribution, transmission and storage including planning, engineering, asset management, risk assessment, business planning, documentation and emergency response. The Gas Strategy Execution and System Planning department is responsible for partnering with the True North Strategy team and initiating the projects and programs that will evolve the natural gas system of the future in a decarbonized society. These projects and programs include methane abatement, hydrogen demonstration project, renewable natural gas, rail/marine new load, large gas solutions, system pruning, targeted electrification, cost savings, asset sales and more.
Position Summary
Supports the Senior Director and Gas Strategy Managers in all aspects of gas strategy execution duties (including but not limited to):
• Helps with the development and tracks cross functional goals of the gas strategy team
• Prepares white papers, updates and presentations for the Senior Director to deliver to PG&E leadership and the broader natural gas industry. Periodically delivers them directly.
• Backfills behind the Senior Director for all gas strategy aspects.
• Collaborates with the True North Strategy team to ensure all goals are aligned and to continue the development and evolution of gas strategy.
• Partners with the Gas R&D group to ensure new technologies are effectively folded into the execution department.
• Identifying stakeholders and communicate within and outside of PG&E
• Reviews third party, AGA, state and federal position papers and polices to provide feedback and if needed incorporate into our gas strategy.
Location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory, please note hiring leader will make final decision of what are appropriate headquarters for the role based on business need.
Position will require up to approximately 10% of travel time in work schedule.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum:$140,000
Bay Area Maximum:$238,000
&/OR
California Minimum:$133,000
California Maximum: $226,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Qualifications-
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 10 years of related experience or equivalent
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree preferred.
- PMP Certification
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Desired
- Ability to use understanding of the business to help drive strategic decision making, and to recommend operational improvements.
- Ability to lead the largest most complex projects across the line of business supported (i.e. TNS, Gas Operations, Gas R&D, Corporate Sustainability, State and Federal affairs, Regulatory etc.)
- Deep knowledge and expertise of business and or industry drivers
- Ability to create compelling business cases based on complex business environments and inputs.
- Adept at addressing issues with diplomacy and tact.

• Witness assistant to Senior Director for upcoming GRC
• Develops or provides significant input to PG&E leadership, other utilities with similar programs, industry and/or regulatory decision makers to influence marketplace and regulatory strategies impacting PG&E and its customers.
