Principal It Finance Budget Analyst

Summary:
Hands-on position developing NJ TRANSIT's Information Technology operating and capital budgets as well as for monthly financial reporting and analysis. Actively participates in financial review meetings with IT Teams.
Roles and Responsibilities:

• Develops, coordinates and prepares the NJ TRANSIT long-term financial plan and operating impacts from capital completions. Reviews and ensures accuracy and appropriateness of assumptions and projections.
• Conducts analysis pertaining to relevant fiscal issues. Develops, coordinates and compiles material to maintain a comprehensive database for development and preparation of budget and financial presentations, reports and reviews.
• Performs general ledger analysis to prepare accruals and Pre-Paid journal entries at month end.
• Develops, maintains and reports on the NJ TRANSIT Information Technology capital budget.
• Manages and prepares budget and financial documentation for IT Management review including schedules, narratives, account snapshots, charts and graphs. (Year to Date and Forecast)
• Ability to identify and analyze unusual items and recommend appropriate action.
• Ability to correlate discussion from financial review meetings to the financial statements.
• Assist with requests from the NJ Transit centralized Fixed Asset Team.
• Ad hoc assignments on request.
• Performs and supervises complex technical and financial analysis in relation to the Budget Unit’s responsibilities.
• Researches and compiles data in response to informational requests from OPRA, State agencies, sister- transportation agencies/authorities, and internal/executive management.

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related area
• Five (5) or more years-experience in IT Finance, financial analysis, budget development, accounting

Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office components ( Excel and Word) sufficient to create Ad-Hoc reports, analyses and correspondences is required.
• Working knowledge of pivot tables and VLOOKUP’s
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
• A strong focus on continuous improvement and knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done.
