SalaryThis Principal Information Systems Engineer performs IT functions such as design, analysis, evaluation, testing, debugging, and implementation of technology solutions supporting the company’s business processes and operations. Analyzes, installs, acquires, modifies, and supports operating systems, databases, or utilities software. Plans, conducts, and directs the analysis of business problems to be solved with automated systems. Analyzes, designs, acquires, and implements projects for Windows and Linux systems. At higher job levels, may contribute to the development, testing, evaluation, or design of systems or infrastructure architecture used throughout the IT solution set.
They will also play a key role in providing technological, business and strategic guidance and leadership to the WFM organization. Responsible for the coaching, mentoring and professional development of Team Members. Identifies opportunities for enhancing the Technology organization’s capabilities to support and achieve overall business objectives. Successfully collaborates with various levels of the organization, including the executive team. Develops and oversees the execution of long-term strategies to maximize systems, applications and infrastructure quality and efficiency. Prioritizes initiatives and projects based on their impact to the organization, resource requirements and cost restraints. Viewed as a change agent and champion of WFM’s vision, mission and values.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office, at least, 3 set days a week.
Responsibilities:
Create standards, design, configuration, Infrastructure as Code, documentation, and testing of hosting infrastructure (server, storage, cloud, automation, etc.) technology solutions to meet business or technology requirements- Create and maintain Lifecycle Plan and Long Range Planning for Linux/Unix servers, storage solutions, virtualization platforms, cloud IaaS, Identity Management (IAM/LDAP), DNS/DHCP, automation and infrastructure management tools
- Translate business outcomes, business requirements and technical requirements into technical designs for new technology solutions or enhancements to existing technology solutions, while following architectural standards and organizational policies
- Works closely with Project Managers and Product Owners to understand the business requirements to drive the analysis and design of technical solutions
- Troubleshoot system performance, design for high availability and efficient resource utilization
- Perform the needed analysis to identify root cause of reported incidents, identify the short and long term remediation for the identified incidents
- Delegate tasks and coach senior, mid level Systems Engineers
- Demonstrated experience designing solutions for Linux/Unix Server both on-premise and in the cloud
- Demonstrated experience identifying opportunities for automation, developing and implementing infrastructure automation capabilities and tools
- Demonstrated understanding of projects from the perspective of client/user, business, cyber security and technology day to day operations
- Evaluation of existing technology solutions to determine fit for purpose for the new business or technology requirements
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize application architectures for performance, scalability, and cost- efficiency
- Create scope documentation, major and minor milestones for project intake and create SOPs to hand over to other teams.
- Create process flowcharts, diagrams, drawings and other related documentation
- Verify infrastructure can handle the expected load and can recover from failures
- Acts as project leader for highly complex, global, and long-in-duration projects.
- Designs and implements global infrastructures.
- Helps set the direction of the Information Systems Engineer group.

Education and Skills:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or relevant field- 10+ years of infrastructure experience with 5+ years as an architect designing IT infrastructure in public cloud providers and on-prem.
- Advanced knowledge of common systems hardware design configurations that optimize system performance.
- Advanced knowledge of systems performance, hardware, software, and related troubleshooting and quality procedures.
- Leading edge understanding of more advanced concepts of systems administration.
- Advanced ability to recommend system upgrades and improvements to achieve established business goals and objectives.
- Advanced knowledge of Linux with at least 5 years experience.
- Hands on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes or equivalent
- Familiarity with logging and observability technologies such as Splunk and Prometheus or similar
- Analytical & problem solving skills, ability to communicate ideas clearly
- Effectively presents technical information and respond to questions in both one-on-one situations and group meetings.
- Able to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to business audiences.
- Expert understanding of standard project management methodologies and requirements.
- Able to handle a significant amount of ambiguity in project work.
- AWS certifications a plus
