Basic Function
We are currently seeking to fill an HDPE Expert Process Engineer position at LyondellBasell's Matagorda site located 13 miles south of Bay City, TX. The Polymers Process Engineering Subject Matter Expert will provide technical consultation as a technical expert. This position requires interaction with Operations to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize operating units to drive continuous process and product performance improvements for the Matagorda HDPE plant. The individual will identify, recommend and support the implementation of strategic projects to improve unit reliability, quality, and HSE performance. The HDPE Expert Process Engineer will also provide technology expertise to other LyondellBasell plants worldwide and provide technical mentoring to site engineers.
Roles & Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities and lead cross-functional teams to achieve significant improvements to Matagorda process safety, production, reliability, cost and quality.
• Effectively communicate with Site Management, as well as Senior LyondellBasell Management, on capital projects, troubleshooting and site technical opportunities.
• Utilize process data and engineering calculations to validate equipment and system performance.
• Consult, assist, and/or lead incident investigations and follow-up actions.
• Provide process design support for capital projects including process modelling and equipment sizing.
• Coach less experienced engineers and provide technical training for others.

Min. Qualifications

• BS degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Expert understanding of unit operations and process safety management systems
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Strong personal leadership skills
• Ability to prepare and deliver complex technical reports and presentations
• Capable of influencing others in all positions, including management
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to devise new approaches to problems encountered and to drive team consensus
• Fluent with ASPEN process modeling tools
• Knowledge of polymer processes is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree preferred
• 10+ years of experience in a refining, petrochemical, or chemical environment with a long-term goal of becoming an expert in polymers technologies
