The Principal DevOps Engineer is responsible for all aspects of Jopari’s production environment to meet expected 24/7 service levels.
- Ensure effective 24/7 operation of applications according to uptime SLAs.
- Plan activities required to maintain effective operations as the environment grows and changes.
- Audit and reconcile transaction counts and deliverables on a daily basis.
- Take the lead on ensuring all errors and anomalies are addressed and remediated in a timely fashion.
- Spot check job runs and processed documents for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standards.
- Oversee cloud compute and storage utilization for optimizations.
- Ensure tools are in place with coverage for systems monitoring, batch job reconciliation, and client implementation workflows.
- Implement continuous improvement processes to achieve operational efficiencies.
- Debug production problems utilizing SQL queries and knowledge of X12 EDI transaction formats.
- Interface with technical support and development teams in isolating & resolving problems.
- Participate in off-hours on-call support rotation.
- Maintain subject matter expertise on new technology as it is added to the environment.
- Write operational, monitoring, and deployment documentation.
- Take responsibility for protection of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all information/data residing on our internal systems.
- Communicate and coordinate with internal teams in Engineering, Client Support, Implementation, and Account Management to ensure customers are informed of issues and provide progress updates.
- Work with external stakeholders and technical teams to jointly coordinate solutions.
- BA or BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Computer Engineering, or 10+ years of equivalent work experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communications as well as effective interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, planning, team-leading, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Aptitude for learning new technical skills quickly.
- Ability to deal effectively with clients, management, system and application engineers, vendors, and customers; must be able to understand technical requirements and put them into understandable terms.
- Ability to analyze work processes and procedures for improvement opportunities.
- Knowledge of existing and emerging application software technologies.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of computer systems design and architecture with an underlying understanding of the integration of systems hardware, software, databases, and networks.
- Ability to work independently with little or no direction.
- Ability to work rapidly and accurately when under pressure.
- Skills with scripting languages (shell/SSH, Perl, etc.).
- Experience working with Apache, Java, RabbitMQ, Oracle, and a cloud-based infrastructure. Certification is a desired plus.
- Capability to closely coordinate with Development, Project Management, Quality Assurance, and Implementation departments.
- Proficient Windows and Linux operating system skills.
- SQL skills to create and run ad-hoc queries to identify issues and support processes. Also, some database management work is desired.
- Strong DevOps-related abilities including CI/CD, automation, cloud management, and observability.
