Pressure Relief Valve Technician Trainee

Join our team as a Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) Technician Trainee in Benicia, CA.

(We're the team that makes sure things don't blow up when the pressure gets too hot!!)

As a Pressure Relief Valve Technician Trainee, you'll be learning the ropes of Pressure Relief Valve maintenance, testing, and problem solving. If you have mechanical aptitude and the willingness to learn, you will gain hands-on experience working alongside our seasoned Technicians. You will have the tools, resources, and training to ensure your success.

You must have a valid driver's license in good standing and an excellent driving record. This is a safety-sensitive position. You are required to pass a pre-screen drug test that includes testing for marijuana. Once you achieve technician certification, you will be subject to random testing upon dispatch to refineries.

Hiring Range

The hiring range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00 p/hour. This is the pay scale range Caltrol reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary based on geographic region, skills, qualifications, and experience of the candidate along with the requirements of the position.

What you'll be doing:  

• Assist with technical repairs on a variety of Pressure Relief and tank valves. (All repairs are performed in the shop under supervision)
• Provide troubleshooting assistance
• Perform Relief Valve testing on all test stands (liquid, air, steam, tank vent)
• Blasting, painting, and cleaning of RV parts
• Local pick up and delivery to and from customer sites

What we are looking for: 

• High School graduate 
• 2+ years of experience as a shop technician and/or demonstration of general mechanical competency
• Ability to evaluate technical data and troubleshoot mechanical problems
• Computer literacy and the ability to learn company software systems
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word)
• Understanding of shop workflow and ability to recognize potential bottlenecks and areas for improvement; assists in implementation of some of these areas as necessary
• Great communication skills and a dedication to customer and service excellence
• Must have a valid driver's license and a clean and excellent driving record
• Must be able to pass random drug testing, including hair follicle testing
• Ability to work overtime as needed, including periodic overnight and out of state travel

Physical Demands: 

Good vision and auditory response to detect RV leaks and inspection. Physical ability to climb, possess basic agility and endurance and lift, push, pull, carry a minimum of 50 lbs. 

Travel:

Must be available to work overtime including periodic out of state travel. The week of your training will be spent in our office in Santa Fe Springs, CA. You may periodically be asked to travel to our Santa Fe Springs, CA, location for additional training. Caltrol pays for all expenses.
