Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • Lead teachers must have CDA or degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Must meet basic requirements of local childcare regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to relate positively with young children.
  • Previous teaching or assistant teaching position with a public or private school system, a quality preschool, childcare center, or church nursery is preferred.
  • Knowledge as a parent or in the previous work experience of the social, emotional and creative needs of young children.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
  • Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time in connection with the supervision of children.
  • Must be able to work shifts, holidays, early morning hours, and evening hours.
  • Must be able to use an iPad, television, computer, and Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

  • Is responsible for the overall supervision and daily class functions of a class of children.
  • Assesses each child’s developmental needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Plans with the Director and implements the approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule using the Your Center Name curriculum outlines and materials.
  • Plans with the Director all required parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations.
  • Provides a well-kept classroom that encourages creativity.
  • Ensures that all class bulletin boards are current and provides the parents with an overview of the material taught in class.
  • Provides the children with verbal praise and acceptance while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children’s behavior.
  • Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common-use areas, and playgrounds.
  • Assists and coordinates snacks, meals, nap time, and bathroom activities.
  • Maintains The Launchpad Preschool professional attitude and work behavior.
  • Assists in the other capacities as determined by the Director.
  • Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions as determined by the Director.
  • Observes all rules and regulations of The Launchpad Preschool and the local, state, or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety, and care of children.
  • Maintains overall professional personal appearances adhering to the guidelines offered in the training manual.

Upon Employment

  • DCF Child Care 45 Hour credential or willing to obtain
  • Prefer CDA or degree in Early Childhood Education
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid training required.
  • Must complete all necessary company employment and payroll forms.
  • Must have a fingerprinting and/or criminal investigation report completed and passed.
  • Must be able to pass drug testing

  • Individualization – Shows awareness of concern for personal differences among individuals in dealing with each child’s needs, interests, and capacities. Helps each child feel comfortable and unique with an individual greeting, hug, or pat upon arrival.

  • Resourcefulness - Demonstrates creativity in designing programs and in the use of materials.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
