Job Description

ONE CITY SCHOOLS PRESCHOOL TEACHER
We are hiring Preschool Teachers (for ages 2 - 4K)
who are dedicated to cultivating and nurturing excellence in young children, and providing them with a solid early learning foundation that prepares them to become the next generation of leaders, scholars, innovators, entrepreneurs, professionals and community stewards to change the world, for the better.

We are seeking early educators that are fun, energetic, inspiring and nurturing of the students they teach, and who want to work with One City to help grow one of the most unique and transformational preschools in the country: One City Preschool.

You must have a deep passion and commitment for working with young children and their families, and for collaborating with your colleagues and experts in the fields your students are studying as well. Our teaching positions offer competitive pay, comprehensive benefits and an unbelievable opportunity to help do something exceptional for children.

BACKGROUND ON ONE CITY SCHOOLS

One City Schools is a Wisconsin-based nonprofit organization that provides high quality educational opportunities for young children. Our mission is to seed a new model of public education that ensures young children are on track to succeed in a college or career preparatory program from birth through high school graduation. Our vision is of a Greater Madison community where all children are prepared to contribute and succeed as adults. More importantly, we aim to partner with families and the broader community to cultivate children who become free, global and deep thinkers, curious learners, effective problem solvers, humanitarians, happy people and young people who care about the world around them.

Currently, One City operates two schools: One City Preschool and One City Elementary School. One City Preschool is accredited by the City of Madison and was awarded 5 (of 5) stars through Wisconsin's YoungStar Child Care Rating System. Our Preschool has been awarded Best of Madison in Child Care and our early childhood and 4K program are built exclusively around the AnjiPlay program from Anji, China. We enroll children ages 2 through 4K in our Preschool.

Anji Play is a national standard for preschool education in China. It was developed by Ms. Cheng Xueqin, founder. Anji Play is built around five core values: love, risk, joy, engagement and reflection. The Anji Play Approach expects the teacher to be present and listen to children’s stories, and create environments, routines, schedules and expectations that allow for the child’s greatest abilities to be developed and seen. The Anji Play Approach also includes specifically designed and selected play materials for both outdoor and indoor use.

One City Schools is working with Anji Play and its True Play Foundation to establish One City as a national demonstration site for Anji Play in the United States. We are seeking preschool educators who want to work with us to build this effective model in the United States, in neighborhoods where children often lack the best educational opportunities.
