Lead Preschool Teacher

Summary
Little Blessings Preschool in Madison, a Christian preschool that has play-based learning at the heart of its curriculum, is looking for a dynamic individual to serve as a lead teacher. The school emphasizes small ratios and an emphasis on social and emotional learning, along with a nature emphasis. For the right individual, we will provide the necessary training and mentorship.
This position will start when we expand our hours at the preschool to 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. starting Monday, June 12. You will work in a classroom with support, sharing your day with children engaging their imaginations! This is a salaried position totaling 40 hours a week year-round. Little Blessings is a ministry of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Madison and Verona.
Qualified individuals must be at least 21 years of age, familiar with state licensing rules, have a Registry certificate or Educator’s license to verify education, meet the qualifications outlined in WI Licensing Rules DCF 251, certified in CPR, Child CPR, AED and Shaken Baby Syndrome prevention training and pass a health and fingerprint check.

Duties
The following list of duties and responsibilities includes but is not limited to:

• Coordinate and implement an educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards
• Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching
• Maintain frequent communications with parents, and is professional and caring when interacting with them
• Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met
• Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and ensuring the safety and security of children
• Maintain accurate records, forms and files
• Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement
• Refers to the Director any questions or comments about the program.
• Attends monthly staff meetings.
• Follows Personnel Policies set in the Good Shepherd Employee Handbook and the Little Blessings Handbook.
• Supports an anti-bias curriculum.
• Maintains continuing education hours as mandated by the state
• Maintains confidentiality
• Participates in all school activities

Requirements
Requirements

• Strong oral and written communication skills
• High energy and the ability to work well with others (Staff, children and parents) to foster a team environment
• A strong understanding of child development
• Must pass DCF required background check
• Must complete CPR and Abusive Head Trauma Training (formerly Shaken Baby Syndrome Training) within 30 days of employment
• Must secure registry certificate within 90 days of employment. The registry certificate should be level 7 or higher, or the employee must be willing to obtain it
• Person shall be at least 18 years of age
• Has successfully completed a Health Exam and Background Information Disclosure as mandated by state law
• At least 1 year experience in an educational childcare setting
• Must have reliable transportation to get to and from work
