Job description Summary 

The role of the Presales Engineer is pivotal in facilitating technical sales, guiding customers in aligning their business objectives with innovative IT solutions. This professional engages with qualified customers to adeptly execute the Apex Technology Management process, ensuring a seamless alignment of technical scope and services. A key responsibility involves communicating authentic value propositions to customers, fostering enthusiasm for their journey with our solutions.

In addition to maintaining a high level of proficiency in enterprise technology, the Presales Engineer caters to a diverse clientele, including SMBs, government municipalities, and the Department of Defense. The focus is on collaboratively devising and implementing strategies that propel clients towards enhanced success.

As a dynamic contributor, you will assume the role of a solutions architect or lead in the creation of proposals, overseeing aspects such as pricing and optimizing the quality of client solutions. Your expertise and commitment are instrumental in driving impactful and tailored IT solutions for our valued customers.

Primary Responsibilities  

  • Utilizes IT product and service knowledge to understand the operational and financial impact to customers via proposals whilst recommending the appropriate solutions.  
  • Solution execution from preliminary site visit, proposal generation, kick off, quality control, and account maintenance.  
  • Design customized IT solutions that align with clients’ long-term goals and technology needs, considering technical feasibility and practicality.  
  • Develop comprehensive solution architectures, technical documentation, and presentations.  
  • Participate in the completion of submitted RFI/RFP documents, bid coordination, prospect qualification, discovery and requirement gathering, product demonstrations, technical discussions, and design solution proposals.  
  • Participate in client relationship and retention activities.  
  • Engage with clients during pre-sales meetings and discussions to showcase the technical aspects of our solutions.  
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers and engineers, to ensure seamless transition from pre-sales to implementation.  
  • Stay up to date with the latest technology trends and MSP best practices and emerging solutions.  

Skills & Experience 

  • 5+ years of experience in an IT related or engineering position. 
  • 3+ years in a customer facing sales or presales position. 
  • IT MSP Industry experience required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in: Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or Business preferred. 
  • In-depth understanding of IT Infrastructure, Cloud Services, Network Solutions, and Managed Services.  
  • Strong understanding or knowledge of the public sector strongly preferred. 
  • Strong business acumen.

Preferred Certifications 

  • CompTIA, CCNP, CCNA, CISA, or CISSP  

Physical Requirements 

Work is primarily knowledge-worker oriented using computer systems.  Occasional exertion and lifting of up to 20 pounds to move office or computer equipment.  Occasional crawling, kneeling, and squatting.  Constant use of computer (keyboard/mouse), and phone.  Visually inspects, prepares, and analyzes data & figures, views computer constantly.  Occasional travel (car).  Occasional exposure to outdoor environmental conditions as a result of travel.
