Powertrain Controls Engineer - US Defense Ground Vehicles
Description:
A Controls Engineer is needed for the design and development of control systems for powertrain, hybrid electric, thermal, and environmental system management.
Work responsibilities will include:
- Develop System Specifications, Sub-System Specifications, and Statements of Work
- Troubleshooting powertrain and controls system issues
- Lead and Assist in the development of control systems
- Subcontract management of supplier developed control systems
- Subcontract management of supplier developed power generation components
- Present concepts and program status to functional and program management
- Compose technical reports
- Participate in Research and Development activities prepare technical information in support of project deliverables and management requests
- Support other engineering assignments as needed
- Performing failure analysis & be able to provide technical direction for corrective action solutions
Required:
- Engineering Degree Required (EE, ME, or relevant Engineering Degree); Masters Degree preferred
- 5+ years of Powertrain engineering experience including 3 years of relevant Hybrid Electric or Electric Powertrain experience (PHEV, HEV, or EV)
- Experience in CANBUS preferred
- Experience in Electric Vehicle or Hybrid Electric preferred
- Experience in 3d Modeling software (CAD, VisMockup, Spaceclaim) preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
- Must be a US citizen
- Self-starter, highly motivated, with demonstrated ability to work independently
- Must be able to work in office, shop, test lab and test site environments.
Additional Information / Desired Experience:
- This position may require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance)
- Previous experience working on ground combat Vehicles desired.
- This position may require the candidate to be able to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles is desired. Must be able to pass ASR test (Anthropometric Size Requirement for confined space)
- Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required
- Familiarity with military standards and test requirements desired.
- Occasional travel to test sites may be required.
